Brakes——-2006 mega cab 5.9

Intake grid heater coming on while driving

So...a friend of mine picked up my truck for me and had it serviced, along with having a heavier duty clutch put in (did away with dual mass setup). The new clutch requires a lot more effort to shift and hold to the floor, made still more of a challenge because the factory rubber cover for the pedal is slippery and either slips off the pedal entirely or let's my shoe slip around when trying to shift.

The problem is bad enough that I'm going to have to go back to a factory clutch setup if no other solution is found. I'm disabled now (was not, when I bough the truck new in 2006) and don't have the leg strength or coordination to deal with the issue as it currently stands. I have to wear boots or stiffer-soled hiking shoes with knobbies on them to shift the truck in its current setup, but you'll never find me in traffic with the truck. I can't get to the brake pedal quickly because I had to move the pedals (adjustable) very close to me in order to get the clutch pedal all the way down to shift/coast. Makes getting to the brake pedal quickly tough. Would be nice if the clutch pedal were higher than the other pedals, by default.

Do they make a clutch pedal cover that is metal, that fastens to the pedal very securely, that would bite into my shoe a bit so that my foot won't slip off the pedal when trying to shift?

Also, is there any concern for firewall or other parts fatiguing because of the force needed to shift?

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies?

Put a new pedal cover in - if that thing is slippery then something is badly wrong with it. Maybe someone had once oily shoe soles or worse one used armor all or such on it.
OEM that thing is as slippery as a tire thread, means none.

The cover slipping off the pedal, itself, is also an issue. God forbid the cover tears off and I'm down to trying to shift with my shoe on bare metal.

I just installed a SouthBendClutch adjustable hydraulic assembly on my paper weight 03, P/N HYDX.750, There is a lot of adjustment for pedal height on this setup and the lowest adjustment point is a little bit farther up than stock. Can't comment on pedal effort 100% I don't have much drive time, but the effort at the lowest setting "stock most height" was a bit easier, this pedal can be adjusted pretty high. I can get some pictures and measurements if you want.

For the slipping pad a good strong adhesive on the back side, I use some stair step grip tape on my pedal pad, I can't stand driving with a wet shoe on the clutch the tape helps.

Thanks for the replies, all. I'll try a new pad and also the adhesive recommendations. I have no idea what clutch was put in, but will look at the SouthBend setup.
