I'm replacing my hyd clutch ms,sc with a south bend and I'm wanting to know the tricks of removing the safty switch without breaking it. I looked under the dash and I think its tme to ask questions before I do something wrong. Thanks for any info
I don't recall doing anything special when I switch to the South Bend hydraulics. The clip holding the rod onto the clutch pedal is a real pain to get to as I recall, but I think that one you pop that clip off, the master cylinder assembly, once unbolted from the firewall, slides right out (well, sorta... getting it out from behind the hydro boost and everything else crammed in there is a task too).

Just did mine with South Bend Hydraulic sys. . You have to find that electrical connector hidden away in the large wire bundle above the steering column. Once you have your hands on that just unplug the old connector, pull the old hydraulic assembly out and reinstall when the new assembly is in place.
I destroyed the retaining clip holding the master actuating rod to the clutch peddle. Couldn't figure out how it's supposed to come apart. My master cyl rod pin is now held in place by a cable tie. I'm looking for a snap ring or clip pin of some kind for a more permanent fix.
The job isn't that bad except for the cramped space under the dash. Don't worry about destroying that retaining clip as SB provides a new one.
The master cylinder pushrod is held in the piston with a one time insertion saftey retaining clip, It is not meant to be serviced. It is a safety feature, you do not want the M/C push rod under any conditions to pop out while driving. Not sold seperately, it has barbs that hold it in the piston and then it has two barbs that lock onto the p-rod.
