New 5er Install ?????

Has anyone tried out that "new" Cody Coupler device thats out on the market?? Came across it on the tandrtrailer site.

I recently put a Cody Coupler on my Terry Resorter fiver. The Cody unit appears to be solidly built and installation was complete in mere minutes. I really prefer the gooseneck setup. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is a nice way to attach safety chains to the the trailer frame/hitch.

There are some old treads on this site about the dangers of using a 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter on some trailers that are not stressed for the additional leverage created by the gooseneck adapter. I've only put about 500 miles on mine and so far no problems. My trailer is only a 26' and I suspect the frame is the same one used for the heaver/longer units so am hoping it will be okay.

I was about 2500 miles into my first trip with the cody adaptor when my fiver started comming apart; came real close to losing the whole thing. It likely would have taken a little longer, but near Suzanville Calif, we hit a long very bouncy streatch of highway, and looking in the mirror I could see there was movement between the trailer body and the pin box. It was tearing the welds right out of the frame.

Cody did not respond to my efforts to talk with them about it.
