Here’s a question for anyone. I’m currently running the stock airbox with the Cool Blue hose, PSM, and Amsoil filter. I’m upgrading my turbo to the HTT 62/13-SS. Also, I usually run my Smarty at 5 or 7. Will my current intake supply enough air or will I need to look into something bigger. I like the Icebox with Amsoil filter and the Cool blue hose, but if my current system works, great.

Thanks,

Jacob

Jacob, your stock airbox will work fine, but bigger wouldn't hurt. On mine the AFE spooled faster and gave me slightly more peak boost numbers.

DPKetchum,

I'm not trying to argue with you & you do have some good points.

The last 3 oil changes, I took used oil samples & had them tested, with the idea of, safely, extending my oil drain intervals. The used oil analysis showed that the amount of silicon (dirt) was what you would expect from a stock, paper element filter. I have the AFE ProGuard 7 filter system installed in my '03.

Geno's Garage says that this filter is the only, aftermarket filter they will sell due to its filtering efficiency. My experiences show that to be true.

In the past, I did have a problem with a K&N on my '91. Sent it back for a full refund.

Jacob,

The last issue of the TDR had a great article written by Pete Tomka, the guy that came up with the PSM. It might be worth reading. We tell people that the PSM is rated up to 450rwhp but I know that Pete has dynoed a few over 500. If you like quiet stay with the PSM set-up, if you like turbo whistle go for the Icebox, I am currently running the Icebox and have to admit that I am loving the whistle! If you are towing long distances the PSM may be a better option. You can call me if you want more info.

The Ice Box system is the best way to go in my opinion. The quality of the hand made all steel box are a good start. The ease of installatation (about ten minutes) is another plus. The box alone does not increase turbo noise much at all. On my truck i removed the silencer ring from the turbo so now my turbo whistle is louder than the straight pipe exhaust. As CD said, the Amsoil filter is hard to beat. Overall, with the quality of the box, the easy installation and the cooler temperatures compared to other popular boxes, the Icebox is the way to go. If you want to talk to me personally about the box call me at 719-290-8229.

I have the cool blue w/ the PSM intake w/ the Amsoil filter, to be honest, my mpg didn`t change. The EGT`s did drop, cools down faster, turbo spools up a little bit faster, and I don`t have to mess with the oil.

I tow so I would do it again!

I second everything he says. I like the PSM intake, simple mod, and for towing it pulls the coolest air around and uses easy to take care Amsoil drop ins. . I did buy the TAG with the kit, don't do it if you can help it. Save your money for something else. Scotty
