cold climate starts

When I rewired my house we added a few switched outside plug-ins for Christmas lighting. I use one for my engine heater cord, the cord is one with a light in it so I can tell when it is on. My procedure is switch off, remote start, ready to go in about 5 min then unplug the cord and go. Also so I don't forget to unplug the cord it is draped over the drivers mirror.
