How many have read Rand's "Atlas Shrugged"?

Who's tougher?

I was just curious on how many of you guys carry legally with a permit. Has anyone had to use their concealed weapon in self defense?

Had one for ten years now, only had to pull my weapon on someone once and that was way back when I was still working security part time and a guy didn't see me when he decided to pull a gun on another guy, when he felt my barrel against the back of his head he gave up fast. Unfortunately the two met again and the gun guy killed the other and then killed himself. Always makes me wish I would have just shot first, but hindsight is 20/20.

I turn 21 in a little less than 6 months. I plan to get my CCP and a new pistol as soon as I can. I travel a lot by myself going to several events, and I am often home alone as my parents go out of town regularly. As most with tell you that know I'm a skronny little fellow, but come July I'll feel a lot safer.

In CT you must have a CCP to even transport a handgun legally..... to a pistol range, wherever.

I've had a permit for several years, but I've only carried a few times. I guess I don't often go places where I feel in danger.

I do keep one loaded and handy in the house, and I keep a stainless Colt aboard my boat during boating season.

Yes I do carry and with a permit. Only had to pull the gun once on somebody. I was in downtown Pittsburgh and a guy walked up to my truck on the driver side and said to give him the truck. I was kinda ready for him because I saw the vehicle in front of me pull out kinda fast and this guy was in the middle of the street, so it just got the wheels turning in the ol head. As he was saying to give him the truck I was already pulling the gun from the holster, and when I got the gun out and he saw the hammer was cocked and it was about 6 inches from his face he thought a lot differently then, and ran away.

I've never actually pulled it, although once I opened my coat enough for it to be seen when a conversation started getting out of hand. Instant politeness!

Had mine since 1995, in SD and now in IA. Never had to use it, but as others here, I pay for insurance too, and have yet to use it :).

Guess y'all are aware of this neat Web site? http://www.packing.org ?

I have one in Florida, and Pennsylvania.

The one from Fla was expensive, but good in something like 22 other states. It was about $120. 00 and took 90 days.

Penn. was $19. 00 and was done within a week.

Both through the mail. Both good for 5 years.

I'm going to get one for Maine because I visit my parents there.

I live in NJ, so I cant legally carry here.

When I was a Dallas Cop, I pulled my gun at least one a week, and sometimes 3 times a day (I worked the worst part of town)

I have a CHL, but I dont carry. I got it mostly for when I go to the range. I have had my fun with guns, and I dont want to find myself in a situation where i would need one again. I think it is a pain in the butt to carry it around.

Anyone know what the law is in illinois. The neighborhoods are getting worse and worse around here. Id like to carry a firearm if i could

You are pretty much screwed, blued, and tattooed if you live in Illinois, bud. Until the overthrow of dictator Daley, I don't think things will get any better.

I have a permit, and carry it mostly in my vehicle. Never had to pull it, but I had my hand on it one time under my coat, sweating! We we in downtown Dallas late one night after a play walking back to our car, and a guy was trailing us for a long time, and started approaching as we began getting in the car. When my hand went under my coat and I just stared at him, I think he got the point, and turned around and walked off.

Need another category:

"Would if I could"...

That fits me - and I'm always WELL protected when we are on the road with the RV, since we tend to camp back in the unprotected boonies - but that's different...

In WI we just had the Senate override a veto from our gov. regarding the conceled carry bill. Pretty soon I might even be able to carry legally. :) After that, we just have to worry about the indians putting up more casinos.

I have had one now for over 5 years. It was definitely one of the best things I have done. That and buying a CTD. I have never had to pull it on anyone. I keep a . 32 in my car and carry a . 45 in my truck. Sleep with the . 45 on my night stand and the wife keeps a 9mm on her night stand.

The Tennessee CC permit is rather pricey. I think it was $150 for the permit and $50 for the mandatory training course. It is renewed every 4 years for $50. It is expensive, but I feel my life and family's lives are worth it.

Every time I plan a trip out of Arkansas, I check the reciprocity status.

I'll be traveling to OK, NM, TX, and AZ this summer. All looks good. I don't think AZ had reciprocity with Arkansas, but they did have a 'vehicle extension of your home' provision even for non-residents.

I have a real nice safe in my truck that currently holds a Colt Pocket 9. It has held a Ruger 357 Magnum and a Beretta 92FS 9MM. Can hold both of them at same time. I try to keep at least 50 rounds of 9MM Silvertip Hollow Point ammo also.

Gettin There

Ohio has just passed its carry legislation, and even though I am a NRA life member, Ohioans For Concealed Carry brought it all together. They worked with every pro gun org. and sports group you could think of. [even the gay female pink pistols]OFCC brought suit in Hamilton county and the district court judge ruled anti cc law unconstitutional. When the supreme court upheld laws against concealed carry, it suggested that anybody could carry openly as an option to maintain our ''fundamental right to peace and security''

OFCC had enough of this crap and organized ''safety walks'' which were basically armed parades through towns and even around the Governors Mansion. Some guys even started carrying openly to prove the court's absurd position that they would not be harassed by the cops. Finally the legislature got the lame duck Gov Taft to sign the bill, but public access by newspapers who threaten to publish permit holders names has some of us ready to carry openly once again

Visit OFCC.net to read about it . The links to the three cop and five cop encounter are worth the trip. This shows the little guys can succeed where the big bad NRA feared to tread.
