anyone have advice for the following???

I'm shopping for a Toy Hauler in the 26' range and most of the deals I'm finding are in the Midwest or SW. I know their are some of you guys that haul for extra $. Can someone give me some idea what the going rate is for this kind of service and where to look.

Thanks, TC

Terry,

There are several large RV transport companies who have contracts with RV manufacturers all over the country to deliver new motorhomes, TTs, and 5ers from manufacturer to dealers. You can find them by doing a search. "RV Transport" is the name of one.

The transport companies employ hundreds of owners of late model turbodiesel pickups to haul for them. I think the owner-operators are paid approximately $0. 75-$0. 85/loaded mile. I'm not sure what the company charges the manufacturer but I'm guessing it is in the $1/loaded mile range.

If you hire someone through a transport company the TT will be insured in transit. If you hire a private individual to haul for you the trailer will probably not be covered by insurance unless you insure it yourself prior to the trip.

Some of our TDR members do this either as full-time employment or to supplement their retirement income and travel. Maybe one of them will respond and offer to haul for you. If you don't get a reply I know two guys who do this and might be interested.

Unless you simply do not have the time, the cheapest way is to jump in your truck and go get it! Besides, driving is fun with the Cummins.
