I need to replace the FCV on the back of the CP3 so I ordered one from Geno's. The valve arrived (Cummins part) with no screws. Upon reading my Hanes manual they state that this part must be installed with new screws and torqued in two stages to final value. How critical do you guys think this is? Have not yet checked around to see if I can get the screws separately.

thanks much,

John

FCV/FCA? If you are referring to the 3 #25 torx screws, and the heads are not stripped, I would re-use. Mine have been on and off more times than I remember, I just used a torx driver and tightened by hand fairly snug, it's never leaked.

I would reuse them as well. Mine were not replaced when the FCA was changed under warranty in '07. It's still tight.

If you do desire new bolts they are available from Cummins... .

Part # 4932790. Should cost about $3. 00 each. Item # 7 in the illustration below.

I never recommend to use all three Bolts, Use 2 or Just finger tight the bolt near the Pump Body, the bolts are steel and the manifold is cast aluminum, the Bolts corrode and strip, if this happens to the inner bolt it will most likely need to remove (Pump) and the body and manifold removed to retract the Bolt, Always use grease or never seize on FCA Bolts, and NEVER over-tighten.
