Its to late when that light comes on in most cases, it would require you not to shut the engine off and remove HPCR pump, first if signs of rust its $$$$ in repairs, if not do not start the engine and remove tank and inspect.

I think that the current setup with the racor brand seperator, and the nanonet final filters is a pretty good deal. I’d be (and I am) very proactive in draining my first line of defense, and inspecting what comes out, a few times per year.

The current filtration is good but relies on filtering in spec fuel which is a perfect world scenario. I've seen secondary filters in our cranes plug off in not very cold weather. Take filters in to warm climate and drain into a catch can and guess what, there's water in the bottom. That water got by the primary. This in industrial Cummins and Cat engines where IMO the filtration has been a step up compared to the automotive segment since forever. Even if Rams Um specs is on par with industry the filters are nearly double in size compared to my 14. Size = filtering capability.
And this is why I get fuel delivered to the house. Not for savings (although sometimes I get lucky on that, and sometimes get bit) but for added filtration. No name primary collect all then a Zinga AquaZorb. Zinga will collect water to the point the filter plugs up and stops flow of fuel, not bypass to the high dollar fuel system. My cousin runs these filters through several thousands of gallons of fuel per year and has had two plug off on him. They are priceless.

I have a large Mr. Funnel. It works. However you’ll grow old using it to fill your truck. You’ll also get covered in diesel because you can’t throttle the hose back enough to keep from splashing.

Zinga or equivalent, is My preferred filter.

Example, over the Years My test fluid, we will contaminate, ( Because we are going to change it with fresh New Fluid) We ran it thru every popular filter know to Me... Yes.. at least 10 different manufactures filters.

Then we add the Zinga downstream , Yep You guess it. it plugs or will be catching water/contaminates downstream of the Popular filters.

Zinga Filters are NON-Combustion, They cannot be used for Direct Injection filtering, (Legally) Thus the Need for Auxiliary or Transfer use only.

This is a tip that you won't find anywhere except from someone with decades of knowledge...If..... the filter is certified for combustion use, it either allows X% to bypass the filter element or has a bypass internal mechanism, Thus You may get 98-99% (XX) Mic's of hard particles on the first pass and Maybe it will collect 95% of the water. Yes that small % is lethal to HPCR components. The Zinga Has no bypass it filters 100% of the fuel 100% until it plugs 100% shut. thus NOT allowing any fuel to damage.

The pic of the 19's filter looks more like a FleetGuard setup to me. It has a replaceable filter element, not a complete filter like the RACOR.

Anyone know the answer to this hot topic???

I’ve used that zinga filter media in a marine hydraulic application, and it did recover a 300 gallon system that was slightly contaminated. Good stuff.

Zinga, water absorb is the new filter system that FASS uses now, no drain cock anymore.
If it is soaked full the engine stops, one needs to carry spare filters with that setup.

During my research of the CP4 pump I learned my wife’s 2013 Audi Q5 3.0 TDI is equipped with one also. Well, She has 77k miles on it now with not a hiccup. No additives, No wiping the nozzle off before fill ups, Fuel filter has only been changed at the required service intervals.... Just Sayin'. When these pump failures start showing up on 2019 CTD's I'll start being concerned. I did look at the AirDog systems... I'd for sure go with one but I'll have to wait till my warranty runs out as I'm sure FCA would not be keen on it.... You have to bypass the in tank lift pump with the AirDog.

I don't have that many pictures of CP4 internals destroyed... I will post some later. I generally just toss them into the recycle pile ,and We DO NOT require cores, they are not worth the Return Shipping.

I need to clarify, the last Picture is a LBZ CP3, The Owner did NOT want to Pay TC for the adapter and mounting of the Gear $100.00, The owner DID NOT get the Gear tight enough and it jack hammered the Pump to Death in Seconds. I will post Pictures Later, I covered the Pump under warranty on the condition it was TC workmanship or part(s) failure. it was 100% the owner lack of failure to tighten the Gear correctly...Needless to say, The SOB renege, on his Promise, it was a Wild 11.2 at a cost of $1900.00.

I just wanted to show how destructive the CP3 can be and NOT destroy the Injectors unlike the CP4 Particle maker, the CP3 last about 3 seconds if it gets out of spec before its BOOM.

You mean to tell Brad after Years of his ignorance and my slamming him to the carpet has finally paid off.....

He had better have that disclaimer on file because if that filter plugs shut 100% on America's road ways without warning and People Die .FASS will NOT survive the wrong death Law suit. This warning will most likely fall on deaf ears at FASS like Always.

Oh so true! Back to my marine days, the twin cat 3304’s only had alarms, as it’s against USCG regs to shut down propulsion at any time unless it’s an operators action. The original spec was for a Lengard system (who knows what THAT is?)

If it is Fleetguard it Should be stamped on the housing somewhere. The secondary filter mounted on the engine shows up at Ram assembly from Cummins and will always be Fleetguard. The primary is installed by Ram and is from whoever the lowest cost bidder is wether it be Fleetguard, Racor, Donaldson, or ?
Either way I bet someone has their handle on that new housing somewhere.
