Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) cracked blocks

I thought I read in an older post that casting core shift had a lot to do with it.

Maybe one of the OG's here on the TDR will remember. Didn't HVAC's Red Rocket have one of the 53 blocks that never cracked. I can't imagine any Cummins ever made that was run harder than his.

That is a good question, I have no idea what block came in the Red Rocket, but amazingly the original VP44 was still tickin' when Hoss finally replaced the original engine not too long ago. It's amazing how much all-out racing that truck was subjected to with the original drivetrain without any significant failures. . . finally wore the engine out.
