YUP - gotta keep the drain path as short, and on as continuous DOWNWARD slant as possible - no "P-traps" or similar potential obstruction points from accumulated sludge or freeze-ups.

It's not rocket science, and certainly NOT necessarily a high $$$ correction - but well worth the effort, regardless of how it is (properly!) done! ;)

Got mine bottled and socked today!! Mine looks just like Gary's. I used 1 in id tube to fit over the vent tube and ran it into a bike water bottle with the holes in it. I went ahead and wiped things down while I was there and rewired my fog lamps too. Might as well get things done inside cause it is rainy and crappy outside here.

I've seen this "fix" for the crank case breather tube several times over the years on the tdr. I do have a question though. Is there any problem with the sock getting clogged up so that the crank case doesn't breath the way it should /

Not likely - especially if you drill all the extra vent holes in the bottle the way I did - and the "cover", is a plain old worn out sock...

Thanks for that.

One more question. For the sock solution. I notice that you relocated the bottle to the bottom of the truck. Is there any reason (other than ease in changing the sock/bottle) I couldn't just leave the bottle in its original location ? Or would the sock (and rubber bands) be bothered by heat there ?

1. Harder to service in the stock location.

2. More posibility of the force of air blast thru the radiator and fan to blow fumes and vapor onto surrounding surfaces.

The location I have used, is tucked up under and behind the bumper and air dam, not visible from outside around the truck. and pretty well protected from down the road airflow.

Otherwise, sure, a person could easily use the OEM location.

Gary,

Thanks. Im going to try to emulate what I see from your pictures.

If you do, be aware that's wire cable ties I showed in the pics, NOT rubber bands - those and oil won't get along very well, and any more, I use a stainless hose clamp of the proper size and adjustment, and the bottle/sock simply slip snugly in and out of place when being serviced...

Oh yeh, thanks. I dont know what I was thinking. I meant to say cable ties. (thats what happens when I try to talk on the phone and type at the same time)
