ISO 2013 Steering box advice

I do as well. I like to support them as they support the TDR.

I understand that... sometimes I even feel a little guilty mentioning the Elephant in the room, because of Genos support of this site.

tell you what inflation looks like.. that filter has been in production for close to 20 years but the price of it keeps rising.. and you know deep down in your heart if probably costs pennies to manufacture, no matter who puts it together.

I think most just use them because it’s a guaranteed job done right the first time. On another forum we just walked a guy with a 4.5 gen through a problem where it would start and run for 10sec then stall. Hold the pedal to 1200rpm and it would stay running. He was running Napa filters. Not plugged, just low quality. Allowed system to lose prime. Switched to oem and problem GONE.

That's the main reason why. I don't want to assume risk on a $20k+ engine on cheap filters.

It's scary how much these engines cost. Even if you have the disposable income.

Napa is generally good quality... used to be Wix filters in a Napa container, much as Mopar is using Fleetgard in a different color..
... but Napa costs more than Genos so why buy filters from Napa unless you just don't know any better.

IMHO NAPA is not what they used to be! Tried to buy US Made "UNITED" rotors for my 15 and sure enough that are CHINA. May as well shop AutoZone etc.

Yep. NAPA stuff in my recent experience is overpriced Chinese junk. I bought wire strippers that were completely non-functional until I took a file and fixed them. For twice the price of Home Depot or Lowes wire strippers. I don't mind paying for quality but I hate paying extra for junk.

I've used Rock Auto for so long I dont even know where the local Napa is.. I cant say I have been in an Auto Zone or Advanced Discout in a long time either. Also worth pointing out Advanced Diuscount Auto is closing 500 stores, so they aren't doing all that great either.. https://fortune.com/2024/11/15/advance-auto-parts-closing-500-stores/

for grins and giggles I just checked Rock Auto for closeout prices on brake parts... you can get Durago Rear Rotors for your truck for $16.77 each... cheapest front rotors on wholesaler closeout are $31.77. probably ten bucks for shipping plus sales tax.. cheapest pads they have are less than 10... even have Wagner Severe Duty semi metallic pads for $27.79

big Papa , that is internet mythology
check their stock tickers..
Maybe I’m wrong, but thats what I was told by a supervisor in our Office of Fleet Management. Napa took over their Parts Department and then changed to Advance Auto.

Advance Auto Parts bought Worldpac and partners with independently owned Carquest stores.

NAPA operates as a "retailers' cooperative" like IGA grocery stores and both True Value and Ace Hardware stores. 1,500 of the NAPA Auto Parts stores are owned by Genuine Parts Company. 4,500 NAPA Auto Parts stores are independently owned. So it would seem that Genuine Parts Company gets 1,500 votes out of 6,000 votes, if each store gets 1 vote, but some coops allocate votes based on business size. I don't know how NAPA allocates that. So while Genuine Parts doesn't "own" NAPA, it certainly is a big player in that space.

But I was not able to find any connection between Advance Auto and NAPA.
