Sad News, Greg Boardman passes away

Was he filming at the time??????????

With all the (IMO - foolhardy) stunts he has done - he should have meet his maker years ago... ... ... that said - I loved his shows... .....

I don't like to see good people die (even though I disagree with some of his views I still respect him for standing up for them) but it was bound to happen. You keep beating the odds eventually the odds beat you.

I'm sure someone will say the same thing for me someday though.

RIP Steve Irwin

Crikey!! To say he had it coming, is an understatement.

Quote:"It was extraordinarily bad luck. It's not easy to get spined by a stingray and to be killed by one is very rare," Collin said. "

I wonder how it ever could have happened???  ;)

He is probably responsible for more kids getting hurt than MTVs "Jackass" ever was. Yet he is a hero for some reason, and they are taken off the air.

I feel sorry for his kids.

He pushed the limits a lot. I'm suprised he lived as long as he did.

He had to be lucky every time not get killed, but the animals had to be lucky once to get him.

I wonder if SNL (or maybe it was MadTV) will play their goofy bits of him or his wife getting killed. :-laf

I dissagree hammersley. Steve was a professional. He knew what he was doing. He probably had 35+ years experience dealing w/ crocs.

Yes he was filming at the time according the cnn. It will be interesting as the information comes out.

I sure feel for his family. My kids are absolutely crushed. My oldest is damn near a zoologist because of the guy. Like him or hate him, he's charismatic enough to motivate kids interests.

final score

Stingrays 1, Steven Irwins 0

I enjoyed his shows and his antics. He always seemed like he started his morning with 20 cups of coffee :-laf

He may have been a "professional" but I think he was out of his element with this one. It's too bad his wife and family are left without their husband and father.

I agree with you as him being a pure Professional - but professionals die everyday - a lot as Soldiers... ... .

I have mixed emotions regarding this ordeal. I really feel bad for his family... but they had to know the day would come eventually.

He could be considered a professional and a conservationist, but he was a little bit too daring when in front of the camera. We won't go into the whole situation where he was dangling his newborn in front of a group of crocs. That was just plain stupid.

This photo is politically incorrect, but kinda funny. Moderators can and will delete it if too many people whine about it.

No matter what opinion you have about the guy you can't take from him his passion and energy. He loved what he did, loved and respected the animals he came in contact with. Kinda wierd that a stingray took his life and not a croc, gator or poisonous snake. I enjoyed his shows, antics and although I thought he was a little off I will miss him. Critters all over the world have lost a friend and someone who trully fought to protect thier lives and habitat. God bless ya Steve may you rest in peace.

He did what he wanted, and died doing what he wanted to do. Gotta respect that.

I can think of many other ways I'd like to go. :-laf

I feel bad for his kids... . :(
