I recently purchased a 98. 5 and the cruise doesn't work at all..... the light in the dash will not turn on. The fuses are good by test light. The two steering wheel switches were bad by the tests in the manual, so I replaced them with no change. My mechanic scanned the system and no codes were found.

Any ideas????

Newbie here..... signature later.

Have you tried checking the electrical and vaccum lines under the battery (driver side)? My wifes truck leaked battery acid on the vaccum lines connected to the cruise control dashpot. I cut the bad spot out of the plastic line and then modified the battery tray so that It could'nt happen again. It's worth a check if you havent already done so... .

My Dad has a 98. 5 and had all sorts of problems with the cruise control. It stopped working one time and the dealer had to reflash the computer to get it to work. Something about it having a memory and it gets confused. You might also try disconnecting your batteries over night, this might help.
