2000 sport 24V 5spd, the problem is the when using the CC it moves around 2-3 MPH in each direction, more noticeable at lower speeds. It is real annoying and it is hell on MPG! The question is: is there a fix for it? If so I was unable to find a posting on TDR, if not any suggestions are helpful and welcome. Thanks

I remember a post some time back that described "retraining the Cruise" it was a detious task of getting it to a speed that was (say 60) safe on a clear, straight, level roadway and setting the cruise, turn it off while holding the pedal and speed @ 60 then back on and set again. You had to repeat this process like 10 times or something crazy like that. If didn't work on my 99 - I replaced the vacuum actuator assy under the drivers battery and all has been well for like 4 years and 60k miles. The actuateor wasn't too bad a job to replace, owrst part was removing the battery and it cost (back then) about $70. 00 from the dealer - pretty cheap for a dealer part for our trucks. Search a bit here and see if you can find the re-train post or maybe someone with a less failing memory than I can remember the exacts. $70. 00 + 1 hour and success = priceless.

Not sure if ours is the same since mine is an 03. I put a vacuum restrictor between the vacuum pump and the servo. It settled the fluctuations way down. It makes it slower to "catch", but it works great.

The restrictor is a vacuum fitting that I got from O'Riellys. I removed a 90* vacuum connector in the line and replaced it with the straight restrictor fitting. Mine was above the fuel filter housing on the firewall, as my vacuum pump is on the passenger side.

Hope that helps

Randy

Dont mean to hijack your thread, but what about when you set the cruise at say 55 and it climbs to 65 or more within a 1/2 mile before you shut it off cuz your mad. Would this solution fix that problem also? Is larger than stock tires part of the problem? Thanks

Vacuum is not used for any part of the speed control system if equipped w/ manual transmission. The set speed is stored in the ECM... Do you run stock size tires? Scan your ECM parameters to see if tire revolutions per mile match your tires currently on your truck. If they match, I would see if there is something in the "droop" setting that seems out of caliber on your ECM.
