As to if they all had it or not, I am not sure. /QUOTE]
I thought the APPS was an auto-only thing in the earlier trucks
I was only addressing the ambiguity of these 2 statements by saying all these trucks since 98. 5 have an APPS. Both statements seem to question whether an APPS exists in what configurations and what years. The reference to 2nd gen is simply to point out an APPS must be present because of how engine rpm is controlled and similarity to the implementation.
So your 04. 5 doesn't have an APPS on the intake manifold?
The second part addressed this question, the early 3rd gens mounted the APPS under the battery in the manual trucks not on the engine. The poster has a manual and was just clarifying that as you likely missed it.
Both my posts stated in MY 05 the underhood apps was eliminated, not sure where you saw I said my 05 has a throttle cable?
Since the thread is about CC problems, all the APPS info was the setup. There are some subtle differences how CC is implemented in the different years and how they react to external stimulus, referenced by the APPS location and CC implementation.
CC surge on an 04 generally has completely different causes and resolution than an 06, they are not quite the same animal.
