Hey gang,

I'm in the process of gathering parts to do a Cummins conversion and I am looking for information on how to do a compression test on the 12 valve motors.

Do any of you know where to find good information or can you tell me the basic procedures on how to preform a compression test? I have auto/gas experience and this will be my first Diesel, I'm guessing that it can't be that difficult but I need to know where to start.

I'm not sure how many miles the engines are good for or what to look for to identify if they are on their last few miles, beside the obvious.

Theres a special dumby injector they use for the compression test. Not sure where you can pick one up at tho.

It's pretty simple really, unhook the fuel shutoff solenoid and go down the line of injectors putting the dumby injector in and then replacing each injector after your done. It's been alil while since I did it, but I believe I remember seeing over 500 psi (I could be wrong) in just 2-4 cranks of the motor.
