Cummins in a dozer. More power

All mechanical cummins in a 99' dozer. It needs more power scotty.

Is this a pump tune, or is this a fuel plate? I am a not sure?

Posting for a buddy of mine who owns it. I assured him people here would know the answer.

Sometimes they are under powered by design....ie: bogs down and gives up as opposed to damaging a final drive or a hydraulic motor.....

Yes it is in a dozer. Can't debate whether more power is a good/bad thing.

I am just curious if a late 90's mechanical 12v cummins take a pump adjustment or a fuel plate to increase hp output.

Unless deep pockets are involved to pay for the expensive "fuse" extra power finds... And the fuse could be limits of any of the cooling system(s) or just a open the checkbook expensive lots of machine downtime "SNAP!".

Sounds to me like the design/ powertrain engineer put that limit in as a "fuse" as mentioned to prevent catastrophic drivetrain damage elsewhere in the system.

If it's a PT pump tell him to put a bigger button in it!

if it is a 12 valve 5.9 it has a p 7100 pump, look on the right side of pix at the six injector barrels, on top there is a arched cover with either 4 or 6 screws one of the left hand screws will be a tamper proof one. this covers the metering plate and aneroid valve, remove the cover and the metering plate will be on the left held in by two screws, there is slots in the plate for adjustment but not enough, the more you slide the plate toward the front of the engine the more power, remove the plate and extend the slot with a dremel about a 1/16 inch back in and your set, no overheating and no damage to drive train, i just noticed you can see the cover and top screw in the pix
