Thanks Thomas! I guess I'm just not clear as to what an EGR equiped Cummins is.

Hey David, don't worry about Ca EGR. They don't use them in the 24v engines. I just got home from buying my Jacobs brake from Cummins West in Sacramento. Same unit works from 98 on. P/N 3800780. Kit looks very complete, shouldn't be much too install.

Didn't mean to scare you, Dresslered, most of my knowledge is on the 12-valves. I have a '97 12-valve. My '96 was a California EGR-equipped automatic, and I sold it and bought a non-Calif 5-speed. Thanks for correcting me, Bajapilot, I didn't know that there was no EGR on California 24-valves.

Thanks to all! The diesel is still brand new to me and I am still trying to figure out what makes it tick (clack). Hopefully, my E-Brake will come in this week and I can get to the install and then head for the hills!

I just got off the phone with my local area Cummins service rep and he told me that they CAN NOT INSTALL the e-brake on pickups with an auto trans due to a bulletin from the "Corporate" office. It seems that they have been removing about a third (warranty) because they don't work. Duh? Those third probably don't have "the mystery switch" (a way to manually lock-up their converter). He would however, install the exhaust springs and sell me the system to install myself.
