My ring tone came out sounding exactly like the download when played on my computer. It may depend on whether or not your phone supports polyphonic or the newer music ring tones. If it is monophonic tones only, it may come out garbled. Get one of the newer "smart phones". I was able to download all 843 business and personal contacts from my MS Outlook folder into my phone in about 3 minutes. It also downloads the calendar from Outlook also. Basically replaced the PDA for me.

Jeepmullet,

To save this: http://www.kb5bfa.com/isbstart.mp3 as a mp3 on your computer, after accessing it on the internet,

click on file, click on save page as. It should then appear as isbstart in a mp3 format. Chose a location you want it saved to.

At least that is how I did it. I put it in My Documents and then transfered it via ActiveSync to my sounds folder on my phone. Only thing is when I have the volume on loud and the phone rings, it makes people jump. :-laf

Even easier, just right click on the link with the isbstart. mp3 and save it to your desktop. It will be saved as an mp3 right there on your desktop. Then email it to your phone as an attachment, once you get the email you can save the mp3 as your ringtone. This works for the motorolas with verizon.

Anyone get it to work on a Nextel yet ???????????

I don't know if Nextel even offers phones capable of doing something much more than making and receiving calls. I just switched to Cingular after getting such terrible service where I live. The system is too small for the number of subscribers and I was getting a lot of system busy or no service in areas where there is a strong singal otherwise. The worse times were when I needed to make calls... like around 7AM and 4PM. I complained to Nextel about that and the calls getting garbled. Finally I got so disgusted I just opted to pay the $200 early termination and take my number to Cingular and get a "smart phone. " Wish I had done it earlier. Sorry for the rant, but Nextel just makes me

Really hated their limited choices of phones and their capabilities. I would like to know if anyone can get the Cummins tone on to a Nextel and which model of phone it is.

I feel your pain with Nextel, Everyday  My service improved alot when i got rid of my I730.

Josh

Awesome idea, i'll check to see if they can put it in my I275.

I have spent more time trying to make my phone sound like a Cummins than some of my mods :D

Jeepmullet, did you get the ringtone to work for the Samsung 670 yet? You tried to send it to me before but my phone wouldn't accept dead ringers.

Just curious, how hard would it be to create one with the start up, run for a few secs, then having the engine shut off. Wouldn't that make a 'complete' Cummins ring-tone? ;) It 'taint a Cummins unless its chirppin' :) :) :) BTW, I use Cingular with a Motorola V-220 and it works like a champ. Draws attention when it rings, er, excuse me, cranks.

I have been using that sound as the start up of Window on my computers for years. Save it into your computer and then go to "sounds" and set it up in place of the starndard Windows opening sound. It sounds great every time my computer starts. I believe I got it from Diesel Dynamics web site but I don't see it there lately. Look here:

Tim, I converted it to an mp3 and then uploaded it to the site but it hasnt showen up yet... I have no clue what I need to do to it to get it to show up

I got it to work with a Nextel :D

You need a cable and it needs to be converted to a wav file 8000hz 8bits and 1 channel (or mono). Here is a link on how to do it

http://www.harrythompson.com/troubleshooting/ringtones.htm

The link didn't show my phone in the list but basically any Nextel color phone uses a wav file. My phone is a I275. The older phones(non color screen) use midi files, i had no luck converting it to midi to put in my work phone.

Has anyone gotten this to work on a Samsung A670 phone with verizon? I figured out how to get it to my phone but not as a ringtone and also it sounds kind of canny. I need some help oh gurus of cell phones :-laf

i have a motorola E815 can someone please sind me this ring tone?

hemijustin,

Right click on http://www.kb5bfa.com/isbstart.mp3 and save it to your desktop.

Now email it from your desktop to your cell phone's email address, when you receive it, save it as your ring tone. I've got the E815 and this is how I got it to mine. Now I can use an MP3, but a coworker with the same phone has to change the extension to . mid from . mp3 for it to work on her phone. Yep, she likes the sound of diesels. So, try it as an mp3 first, if it only allows you to save it to the phone with no option to save as a ringtone, change the extension to . mid and then resend it.
