I hadn't seen one of these on here before so I thought I would post a picture of the Dakota Digital Fuel Pressure gauge I just installed.

Seems to work pretty good, I have a warning set a 6. 0 psi and it's on the slowest refresh rate. I ran a -4 AN line from the test port on the injection pump to the sending unit on the fender. I'm not entirely sure how accurate it is since I didn't bleed the line that well, but current readings are 13. 2 PSI at idle and at WFO it drops to 6. 0 PSI for a moment and then rebounds to 8. 0 PSI. I'll wait and watch to see if it gets worse, hopefully it doesn't.

I'm not affiliated with Dakota Digital in any way, I am however affiliated with the Red Wing Shoe Co. so buy our boots :D

Nice install  . I like the stealth mount. Good info on the Dakota gauge as well. I believe that there are some other members using that gauge now.

FP sounds okay as well. Best part is that you can now watch those numbers and predict if/when the pumps start to die.

a little more detail since the picture is kind of dark.

I used an autometer black aluminum gauge bracket and it fits in the ashtray about perfect. I then drilled two small holes in the back of the ashtray to run the wires through. I had the gauge in when I was out at the silver lake sand dunes (not hooked up) and it didn't move at all so I think it's pretty secure.

Do you have the "passenger shift version" of transmission? I hate it when the knob spins like that.

Cool looking gauge and install though.

I just installed my Dakota Digital guages and 3 guage pillar mount this weekend. I'm not finished yet but he EGT guage is working fine. I called Dakota yesterday and Scott said I should not have to bleed the fuel line for the sender and guage to work. I'm looking forward to getting the fuel and boost guages working. I mounted the senders in a project box from Radio Shack. I also ordered another fuel sender from Scott to hook up at the pump, the first one was hooked up pre filter, so I can moniter pre and post filter pressures.

I would be interested in getting more information on the gauges and how they are set up. I would rather have the digital gauges vs analog ones. Were did you get the gauges?

rono...

Can you post a pic when you get them up and running? Thinking about going with Dakota but SPA is giving them a run for the money since I can in essence have 6 gauges in the pillar and I don't want to do the flip a switch on the fuel pressure. But I prefer the LED (looks more OEM) vs LCD, Tried contacting Dakota to see if they had plan for a dual gauge and they said no.

Dakota Guages

I finished getting all the guages hooked up this weekend and they look GREAT. I'll try to borrow a digital camera and get some pics to post.

Question: I'm in the process of installing a Dakota Digital FP gauge. The sending unit has two leads on it. I'm assuming one is ground and the other is for the sender??? Does it matter which is which? I wouldn't think so on a DC system. Please let me know what y'all did.

I used one of the spades as a ground. I tried it on either one and it didn't make a difference in the operation of the gauge.

FWIW, I ran -4AN braided line off of the schraeder valve just before the injection pump. The sending unit is sitting on the fender between the ABS unit and the fuse box. It isn't mounted to anything  but it has held up great so far (25,000 miles). Even with some offroad use (silver lake sand dunes).

I had the same question when I installed mine and the guys at Dakota Digital said it does not matter which one goes where. One is ground and the other for the sender.

Ron

Yes they can be dimmed, and they match the factory guages almost identical. There is one wire you hook up to the guage from any source that comes on when you turn on your lights and the lights dim automatically on the guages. As already posted, dokotadigital.com

Ron

One more question: I can't seem to get the gauge to setup properly. It goes through the setup mode just as the instructions say, and then you turn the key off. When you turn the key back on, it goes right back into setup mode again. It's like it's not getting a constant power source (which it isn't and isn't designed to, as far as I can tell), like a radio that doesn't have a constant power source and loses its preset stations when you turn off the engine.

By the way... if you want the scare of your life (or pocketbook), accidentally overtorque the banjo bolt at the fuel supply at the injection pump.

Did you unground the wire????

It sounds like the gauge is seeing ground directly through the sender. Possibly a bad sender? Nicked wire? Measure the resistance when it's sitting. It should never read ground or close to it. Not sure exactly where zero pressure should read. Call DD and ask they should be able to provide that info. I know the 0-30 sender they shipped with mine are made by VDO so they should also be able to help.

Once when I was working on some other electrical stuff on the truck my DD gauge defaulted to program mode. I reset it and it's been fine since.
