Well my boys are beginning to drive and I don't want them learning on my diesel so I had the great idea of buying them something cheep they could learn on. A 93 dakota 4x4 came along with a bad auto trans and I bought it. Today my boys and I removed the trans and words cannot describe the pain removing a trans from this vehicle. At about hour six I was ready to give up. The only thing keeping me going was the thought of them wrecking my 96 which is in mint condition. Anyway, the trans case is cracked. What a day!

Yes, they are tough. My transmission guy has told me that he won't remove them!!! Take it out and he is good to rebuild it.

I have a Durango that I am putting a 4BT in, so I remove the 5. 2 with the auto. They say it is easier this way.

Thanks for the reply. Today I brought the trans to my transmission repair shop and he even said after r&r ing a 4x4 dakota he wouln't do it again and has sent many to the dealership. I don't feel so bad now.
