Dana 80 Diff. Gasket#

Help!!!! I have been running around town looking for a gasket for my 97' 3500 Dana 80 rear end, no one in town can seem to find the right part number. Can anyone help?

The Dana 80 does not require a gasket.


A 1/4" bead of a good oil resistant sealent( Permetex Ultra Blue works great) on the cover sealing surface is all thats required. Apply around the bolt holes like in the picture. Let it set up for 15 mins.

30-35 Ft Lbs torque on the bolts.

Permatex " Right Stuff " works good also. It is available at NAPA in a tube or a cheese-wiz type can.

When I change my rear end I got a armored(gasket with metal samwitched in between) gasket from Big A. I wish I could give you a part number but it's been too long ago.

I have changed mine 3 times already. Used Permatex "Oranage" high temp. I think most all will work as long as you get a good clean surface (brake clean) first.

No gasket is needed.

Use orange -or blue-or out in the middle of now where clear -white -bath tub siclone caulk( shade tree )sealer works the same. Used on fuller transmissions back in the early 70s heat is not a proplem. They had to add color for the automitive application.
