I have a leaking pinion seal that has to be replaced. I bought one at NAPA but not sure if it's the right one. They show two different seals listed and a $50 difference between them (??). My truck is a '01 w/ a 6sp manual transmission and rear drums. The seal I purchased is an SKF #400700. I've never seen a seal like this. There isn't any metal. It's all rubber. The higher-priced one has a metal perimeter. Anyone have a NAPA number on a seal they know for sure is right?

Thanks!

Mike

Mike, the rubber seal you have is in addition to the main pinion seal. Some years used it as added protection against road debris and fits behind the oil slinger. The Napa#24816 is the main seal but pricey, $80, O'Reilly's is half the price. You might want to go to Quad 4x4 web site and do some research, they have good info on Dana products. They say the 2000-2002 Dodge Dana 80 used two different types and are not interchangeable, so... I am not sure if Napa or O'Reilly's will work for you, they only list one.
