I have a 98 24v 4x4 auto: replaced the TPS a few weeks ago because of gear hunting fixed that problem but Friday and today going over the mountain passes when it was pulling towards the top when it down shifts will run fine then shift back and I have no pedal pushed to the floor and nothing I have to let off wait a second or two then get back on it. That happened 4 or 5 times until over the top I know it will be thursday or friday before Cummins can get it into service anyone have any thoughts? Thanks for the help Mark. P. S. happened before changing TPS also.

Have you checked for any codes, could be a VP going south. Go to bluechipdiesel.com. Chip has some good info on checking a VP.

I been there, done that. Your VP is definitely going South. Just a matter of time before it quits completely.
I really isn't too bad to change it out yourself; save yourself big bucks.
Instructions are here on the forum.

Good luk

Check my post, sounds simular to your description. I just changed the VP44 over the weekend and problems solved. I did get code 216 injection timming error... .
