Deadheading on Amtrak

Deadheading from Lincoln to Creston, IA for work and this happens.

Ice was packed between the rail and crossing pad, wheel flanges floated up on top and derailed. only thing keeping it up right was the front left side trucks(wheels) staying between the rail and staying hooked to the 2nd engine.

Good thing you weren't going too fast! And the pucker factor on that was.....

10mph track. we talked to the engineer. he thought they we're goin over. Amtrak was already 5hrs late when this happened. they had to wait another 3hrs for buses to Omaha and Chicago.
