Tractor weights and chains WITH the mower deck on?I'm thinking the wheelie was intentional with unintended consequences

It's all gone now That was to pull my Swisher 52" brush cutter but the tractor was just too small, so I tried my quad, it was too small too so I upgraded to a small John Deere tractor.

It happened so fast that I didn't even have time to be scared until it was over. The deck was starting to drag and I was spinning so I sat way back really hard and pulled on the steering wheel at the same time, instant wheelie

Freezing rain and rain all day today. Nothing to do outside. Once the wife gets back from the grocery store, I'm going to visit the Kubota dealer down near Morgantown today and get some concrete prices and possibly demo one if they have one on the floor. I've been on the Deere already and I'm planning on a demo on Monday.

Don't let me fool you, these things are tiny and honestly nothing more than a large garden tractor with a ROPS and 4 wheel drive. This is so not like something that I would normally be interested in, but it does make sense for a grass cutter that will get 150 hrs a year or so.

I’m a fan of my Zero Turn BUT you have about 1/2 of a second to pull back on levers when you feel it start to spin. You miss that tiny window of opportunity and you are stuck..
Wife got too close to the edge of a small bank this summer and it slid. Mower was engaged of course and fetched up on a rock when the deck dropped. Only rock around but that’s how it goes.

She jumps off and thinks she can push it....needless to say she is still visiting a Chiropracter twice a month.....

Just a suggestion since its for your father, you might want to consider a sun shade. They should be available as an attachment to the ROPS. The last two seasons my grandfather mowed the sun really affected him after a short period of time. I rigged up an old and small patio umbrella off the back of the mower. Clamped an 1-1/4 pipe to the rops and dropped the umbrella down into the pipe with a 1/4 bolt threaded into the pipe to secure the umbrella. It helped quite a bit.

Ordering a new South Bend Clutch tomorrow. Nice little dent in the pocket book just before Christmas.

Good thing I wasn't planning on buying a new mower until January or February.

Yes. I can't complain about almost 12 years on that dual mass flywheel, especially with all the towing.

I see Kubota commercials all the time. It was either RFD Channel, or Velocity.

Not bad. In the late 80s, early 90s a 318 garden tractor was pushing $6K, IIRC.

How are these tractors comparable regarding serviceability? Are bushings, bearings, spindles etc. greaseable, sealed diff housings vs serviceable, etc. (If this even applies here). Hydro pump size/filtration capabilities - bigger is better. Stamped deck vs fabricated deck - fabricated decks are almost always built heavier and last longer than your typical thin gauge stamped deck.

Servicable vs non servicable parts...more or less the difference between greasing parts and changing parts... eventually they all wear out but as you well know being able to grease a component generally increases the lifespan.

I know in the zero turn industry many of the manufacturers use the same core parts - engines, hydros, etc. It really comes down to how well the machine is built, quality of components used, and findin a package your comfortable with.

I can't honestly say JR. I tore in to the JD when I looked at it. Filters etc. are easy. I wasn't exactly impressed with the overall quality though. Definitely homeowner grade machine at best. I'll have to take a closer look the next time I look at one.

I have a BX2200 with a 50” snow blower powered by the mid point PTO (where the mower deck goes).
I have had it about 15 years or so. Starts right up in any weather. Am on 2nd battery.

Only problems have been electrical - turn & emergency flashers. Switch failed.

Love having 3 cylinder diesel snow blower.


Pro
