Def system is Epa Trash, 3rd carbon cooker & dealer BS made me delete after checking 7 shop's in USA. So much Government PIA to Cummins engine owners! Should be class action lawsuits against Obama EPA employees

That's the first accurate statement you've made since showing up here.

Bob is correct.

In reality it can be bad sensor or connection, bad CAT, or bad DEF, most likely in that order.

You and Bob were correct. Towing to the lake this weekend I got hit with P203F, P2509 and P207F codes. Got the mileage countdown that stopped somewhere around 80 miles. Returned home with no problems (well after the 150 mile countdown would have ended), turned off the truck to unload and then drove to the dealer. Never hit any limp mode or any other restrictions. Got a call from the dealer today, there is a bad sensor that they are ordering and replacing. One of the codes mentioned something about a PCM, so they said there is a flash to apply to that.

Good dealer, never tried to play the "bad DEF" game and simply diagnosed and ordered parts. I'm hoping that this ends the CEL issue, though I've never had any issues other than the light comes on at every refill.

Same stuff I went thru, about the 80 mile mark it went away. But only got the one code P207F. I have had this twice, nothing done the first time except cleared the code ,and CEL. Second time I got the flash. Nothing mentioned about a sensor.

Headed for our six week summer trip with the fifth wheel ,will see how it does.

Ok boys same as folks above filled with def, then check engine light, took to a dealer he updated pcm cleared code P207f and said they were awaiting recall T05 this was 4/27/2017.
Now I have filled up again 450 miles ago did not notice when the service light came on I'm in Monument Valley about as remote as you can get on Sunday pulling a 16K lb. trailer, my home and my questions are.
Will the truck go into limp home mode at some point? It's 123 more miles to a dealer.
Will disconnecting the battery clear the code?
Do I need to buy a scan tool to clear code?
Do I need to buy a scan tool to prevent a stranded situation later on?
It's a 2015 ctw 3500 32000 miles

It was my experience that the mileage count down went from 150 miles until about 80 miles... then it just went away. It took well over the 150 miles to get home with my camper. Then I turned the truck off while we unloaded our gear. Later in the afternoon I was able to turn the truck on and drive to the dealer with no issues at all. I think the 150 mile warning is nothing more than a scare tactic.

On the other hand, you could go to an Advance Auto (or similar place) and have them clear the code for you if you were concerned. Clearing the code had zero negative effect on the truck or driving. It simply went away until the next time I filled up my DEF, then it popped right back up within a couple hundred miles of driving.

Disconnecting the battery will not clear codes, clearing codes may not reset miles till warning. When the condition that set code is no longer present the cel will go away after a number of good trips. The ability to read codes is always handy and may give you the piece of mind to know if you should continue your trip or drive straight to dealer.I do not recommend clearing codes, when you do that you can make it harder for the tech to diag your truck.

Thanks guys for the responses after further thought and more reading. I realized this cel could be anything, maybe not related to the def system. So I ordered a Edge Insight engine monitor so that I can see and reset codes and that will bring that warm fuzzy feeling back. I just want to know what it is and have a way to prevent sitting on the side of the road until I can get to a dealer. Let the pros fix it when it and keep me rolling. Thanks

Ok so here is an update to the original problem at 6K miles - I had a total of 3 pumps REPLACED (yes, I am now on pump #4) - remember this is a 2016 model and i am now at 9500 miles having just returned from a 1000 mile trip towing 12K 5'ver. On the last (and this was going to be the last trip) to the dealer to pick up the truck after being told once again that everything was "All Good" I made it about 0 feet before the CEL light came on again. Calling the service adviser from the cab of the truck and then pointing to the amber light to avoid any confusion, I then got FCA on the phone (as we had been talking for weeks about my "Case") and informed them that I would be proceeding with the Lemon Law process. I was asked to leave the truck one more time and they would work with FCA and put their very best man on it (WTF was going on before then??). I asked if all the proper diagnostic procedures had been followed as I had them printed on sheets of paper in case they didn't know what they were - flow testing, voltage, etc. and offered to read them out loud if they couldn't read. Fast forward and I'm called and told the truck is "All Set" but they would like to keep it over the weekend and drive it to be sure and the rental car would be all paid for (Oh boy thats awfully nice of you to pay for this minivan while you cruise around in my truck doing god knows what!) - Monday comes and I haven't heard from them so I am in my work truck and do a drive by....Here is the best part.... I see my truck parked and figure that they are all set but just haven't called me yet because they hate me for being ****** that my truck keep breaking - when I notice the third brake light come on so i stop, park and watch - now mind you my truck is a "Real" truck and has a clutch pedal - I see the reverse lights go one and off a few times then the truck rolls forward and then finally backwards, then a looooonnnnngggg pause and forward motion occurs; around the building it goes so i give chase.....to the main street, right blinker, wait for a break in traffic then...BUCK, HOP, Tire Spin, and STALL - that's it, IM DONE with this - I pull out behind my truck (yes, still in the main road, stalled, 4 ways on), park, jump out of my work truck and not so gently remove the incompetent employee from the driver's seat of my truck, call the dealer on my cell and insist they send someone out who knows how to actually drive an automobile (I'm sorry but EVERYONE must know how to drive standard shift before getting their license - our world in 2017 has gotten WAY to soft - No self driving, automatic ***** car for me - everyone in my house has 3 pedals in their vehicles) I drive semi hauling gasoline and propane for 25+ years always shifting and didn't buy a Cadillac, i bought a diesel powered, long bed, 1 ton truck to be a truck
Ok so anyways apparently it was some module that is part of the DEF system and has seemed to be working fine now, filled the tank (because the dealer didn't even though it was full when it went in and 1/2 when I took it home) and towed a 1000 miles and it is working for now and FCA thinks they are being nice by offering me some free oil changes

Wow, sorry to hear about all your problems. My 16 has 25 k on it with zero problems. The only complaint I have is the soft rubber on the tires and short tire life. You have a great truck and hopefully your issues are now solved.

Everyone in my house has 3 pedals also. Even the handicrap one (who has nerves cut to half her leg muscles from car accident 30 years ago.)

Once the service guy had to "google" the shift pattern because I changed the shift knob to a Cummins one.

The 3rd pedal is becoming more and more elusive like the 3rd verse of garth brooks "friends in low places" - only a few people know of it and how to use it! I know it has nothing to do with this thread but I still do not understand why manufacturers have completely gotten rid of or are contemplating getting rid of the manual transmission?? I watch the original Karate Kid last night and had to explain to my youngest (who will shift soon) what Daniel-Sans mother was doing when she had to "Pop Start" the family station wagon. Driving should be a hands on interactive experience, no "App" for that kind of thing. I learned on a twin stick, quad box 20 speed Mack and just like fine wood working and other hands on trades, we need to be able to pass on these skills (Like the art of making moonshine) to the younger generation - DON'T FORGET THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION!!!!

Propaneman, you're the man. Story is why I won't bring mine in even for recalls. They'll fry my clutch or worse and say its a 13 yo truck waddya want?

Driving "should" be what each individual wants it to be. I want an automatic.....but I still learned on a standard.

Nothing worse than having a standard trans, on a grade, in bumper to bumper traffic on snow packed roads.
Some people do not get any kind of pleasure out of manually shifting gears...even those that know how to do it.

You'll just have to accept the fact that some people do not like what you like.
