Diagnostic code P0602

Just had a new ECM installed in my truck, immediately got P0602 code. Took it back to the dealer and was told it wasn't the ECM but the PCM so I had to pay for reprogramming. Reprogramed, got home had the P0602 code again. My research shows only a ECM in diesel trucks, PCM in gas powerd trucks. Do I have a PCM and a ECM or just an ECM?

Your 03 has both, the PCM is on the passenger side firewall. The 602 is a nuisance code, usually does not hurt anything, I know Smarty can stop it from re-occurring.

I guess I did not notice his sig, with the 6sp... so to be honest, I do not know for sure if the standard trans has a PCM or not, but I would guess not.

Not busting your chops, I am not sure if the manuals had\have a PCM. :-laf The 03 models were a transition year so its iffy what they actually have at times. I though most of the funtions aside from trans control had moved to the ECU by then but always find out new things that are not supposed to be ther.

Thanks for all the help, I did spend some time today looking for the PCM but couldn't find one. This is one of the early 2003's I got it in 2002. Again thank you for your help.

Who ever installed your ECM did an incomplete job. There are a number of steps involved that could be skipped and still run ok

There is no PCM on '03 and '04 manual transmission trucks.

I think the closest thing we have is a Forward Control Module (FCM), mostly for chassis related operations.
