Did anyone watch the Dixie Dingbats last night?

I liked how Diane Sawyer was pretty tough on them. Their answers just ****** me off more. They acted like they are patriots by exercising their right to free speech (not on foreign soil), but we consumers don't have the right to boycott their "art". What a crock.



They just remind me of spoiled little rich girls whose foreign travel consists of posh hotels and limos. I just don't think they have seen the rest of the world as I have traveling for work, or how the people in the military see it.

It'ts a free country and they have the right to say whatever they want, even to Dian Sawyer. I was hoping they could clear things up some but no luck. I have the right not to listen to them or attend their concerts or buy their products. I don't believe entertainers should use their stage, which is paid for by their fans to promote their political views. bg

In my book the dixie chickens are history-end of story. I will never listen to there music,buy any of there cds,if there picture is in the newspaper I will throw it away,if anybody talks about them on the tv/radio-I change channel. Them girls need a good ole red arse bleeding whipping given by GB and if he don't want to do it I will. They are gone.

No dixie chicks for me. I hope the radio stations around here continue to not play there music. The one thing I do NOT agree with is threats to them or there families.



I am really curious about how many people will show up to their concert in Dallas this summer. I know it was sold out before the comments but I have heard a number of people say they are throwing there tickets away.



Looking at the messages so far, I don't think they are going to find any love in Texas.

I was stupid enough to have most of their CD's before they made their comments. They also support PETA by the way so that adds to my dislike of them. I used the CD's for clay pigeons.

Not to start a fight , but if you look at most musicians their political views and the lifestyles they lead go against the good ole conservative line of thinkings. Even the classic country stars were at one time drug abusers, womanizers etc. People need to take there work for what it is, thats entertainment. If i didnt listen to peoples music, because i didnt approve of thier views or values, I would probably never turn the radio on or buy a CD.

Don't like country and never heard the Dixie Chicks but understand that their recent cd has been at the top of the charts even after their comments and that their current US tour is sold out. Guess it didn't hurt them too much but people threatening their life because of their views reeks of the Taliban.

It is funny that most of the people that have a bone with the chicks are from Texas. Honestly, my wife was pro-war and was still a little peeved at the way Diane Sawyer was trying to drill them into saying something more damaging.



If I was to listen to only the musicians that agreed with my political views, I would be stuck with a real narrow musical view. I can't stand Ted Nugent's political views. Oh, I don't like his music either. But I respect his right to have his view and to speak it. I don't like Neil Young's political views, but love his music. I don't like most of the right wingers political views on this site. But I still respect your rights to have them, and respect you for your ideals. I would never condemn a man/woman for his political platform.



The Chicks are still sold out wherever they play.

You don't have to like the president and you can sit with your buddies over a beer or whatever and state your case. Maybe you will get a shrug or maybe a black eye whatever. However, when your in the public's eye, you need to choose your words a bit more carefully. Like him or not, berating him ignorantly is if nothing else being disrespectful of the office he holds, if not this country as well.

I think it doesn't't matter, if you want to go up on stage and say your mind, go right ahead. But, you had better be ready to take the heat afterward. I think I would respect the chicks more if they just would come out and say what they REALLY think, instead of cowing down to the their so-called fans.



I mean, what did they really mean by "I am ashamed the President is from Texas". Are they ashamed of Texas? Or are they ashamed of the President? Or are they ashamed they are from Texas? Maybe the latter?

They got busted for spouting their views in a foriegn country, where they thought they would be welcomed in open arms. Guess they didnt think their comments would reach across the Big Pond. I always hated Bruce Springsteen anyhow... . now I have more reasons.



I always got a kick out of his song "Glory Days" or whatever it is called. It's about him thinking about high school and how great it was. The reality of it is that he was a loser with no friends.



Artists have always tried to push the limits wherever they can. What better way to stand out and garner some publicity than to say or do something controversial? Heck some people may like a certain artist just because they are always doing something controversial. This theory seems to work quite well for Madonna... and Whacko Mike Jackson. These two certainly have had the last laugh - they make more than the GDP of some small countries.



Artists have to be weird - afterall, if they were like 'normal' people then their creations would be boring.



I still think that Jackson Pollack's... (I don't care if I misspelled his name... ) a. k. a. "Jack the Dripper"... art is garbage. Primates handed a paintbrush could achieve the same result.
