And because this is TDR most will agree but there are so many others driving them for other reasons.

I bought an 02 1500 QC because it had the shortest turning radius and Dodge in our area anyway is seen less in the repair shop than Ford or Chevy.

The 1500 wouldn't cut it for towing so I ordered an 03 4. 10 geard 2500 Hemi in the same body style, it was even shipped but got pulled from the rail car due to paint issues and was never to be delivered. So I settled on a CTD that was on the lot, man. . talk about getting lucky. I always hated the noisy things now its turned into a hobby. Now when I drive a gas truck it feels like a big truck with a car motor- yuck.

How's this one:

Went from pop up trailer to travel trailer so needed bigger truck cuz the Toyota Tundra was not worthy.

Buying criteria...

1. Friend recommended Dodge diesel.

2. Ford Salesman said "if anything, don't buy Dodge" (humm... )

3. $40k sticker down to $33K

4. $15k trade in for paid for 2000 Tundra

5. Looks

6. Comfortable

7. Made wife "hot" (maybe this should be #1!)

Great damn truck... . the star were in my favor I guess... Oo.

I was talking to Tommygun on the phone about my new truck. He said that gasoline powered truck are REALLY hurting for sales and that the Diesels are still continuing to rave. I'm sure this could be for a number of reasons, but I would not own a Dodge with a gas engine, personally.

Me personally I wouldn't own a Dodge if it didn't have the Cummins.

How many of you feel this way? How many of you like the Dodge, and would buy it without the Cummins?

My suspician is that the Cummins is what sells the truck--but I know not everyone thinks like me.

I like the Ford and almost bought one, but the Cummins sold the Dodge for me.

I feel the same way as you. :-laf

Had an '00 Dodge 1500 gasser - liked it, but family was getting bigger, commute got longer, needed:

Better Mileage

4 doors

4x4

more back seat space

Looked at the big 3 - decided based on friends experiences to go w/ Cummins - one neighbor has 2 - a first and a second gen and other than auto-trannys, they keep on going. I've not regretted a moment of it. (SWMBO refers to it as: "that **** truck", it definitely doesn't make her "hot" in a good way)

I've drove Chevy trucks since I turned 16. When I went shopping for a diesel the chevy was out because of the hideous looking frontend so then I looked at GM. They are the best looking truck inside and out in my opinion. But then I thought that since I was buying the truck for the engine why not get the truck with the best engine out there so that's why I'm driving a Dodge. As many others have said, I bought a Cummins and the Dodge truck came with it. I really wish Dodge would make a true crewcab with the same wheelbase as the GM, I miss the cab room in my 2002 Chevy crewcab, but I don't miss the 13 mpg I was getting with the 6 litre.

I bought my first Dodge ('92) CTD for the Cummins. Loved the truck and the Cummins so much that I bought my '99. Last year my daughter was born and I had to have something besides a regular cab. I bought the '05 for the correct sized quad cab and the 325 HP, 610 ft/lb STOCK! It is a true towing machine and there is plenty of room for my wife and daughter.

I would not have a 6. 0 or Dmax. FACT: We may have our problems with the Cummins, but in STOCK form, it is still the most reliable and durable truck on the market. :D

Did I mention, I love this truck. Oo.

Both, it's the 3rd Dodge I've bought. The first two were gassers and went 200+ each with no major work. Dodge builds the best truck... when you put the best diesel engine on the market in it... turns into a no brainer.

Without the Cummins this truck would be not be Selling!! The Dodge is way behind the others in fit and finish! I had a 05 Ford 4x4 KR and had lots of trouble with the body shifting on the frame. Had a lift and the FSE told me that it was the lifts fault which was BS but they have more money than I do.

Love the motor!! The truck just comes with it!

I bought mine for the TRUCK, not the ENGINE. Here is what I really like about the truck:

1. THE GRILL: A refined, classy look (kind of like a big sucker fish with its mouth wide open).

2. THE CUP HOLDERS IN THE MANUALS: I like having to bend way down and try to get my cup of coffee while trying to maintain control of my truck.

3. THE EXCELLENT HEADLIGHTS: Got tired of people thinking my other trucks had the brights on. This is not a problem with the Dodge headlights.

4. THE SUICIDE DOORS ON THE QUAD CAB: Just plain fun in any parking lot. Oh wait... I guess I won't have this fun with my 2005.

6. THE LOCATION OF THE OIL FILTER IN THE 3RD GENS: Now I get to feel like a real mechanic when I try to change the filter without spilling the contents.

8. THE EASE OF MODIFYING THE POWER: Oops... never mind... My truck is stock... My truck is stock...

9. THE EXTREME HEIGHT OF THE BED IN THE 4X4 3RD GENS: I just like driving around empty with the tail end sticking up over 60"...

AND FINALLY

10. ALL THE REBATES ON THE NEW ONES: That's how I make all my purchasing decisions... :D :D

I think both the cummins and Dodge is what will lead me to buy soon. The Fords are just too expensive. But I do like the look of them. If I were to buy another gasser it would be an F-150 hands down. Love the new look and my present 95 model has had negitive problems since day one! 165,000 miles and still going!

You forgot #7, let me help:

7. I appreciate DC's willingness to repair my truck under warranty no matter what performance mods I add.

I bought my truck for the CTD. . Not the truck. Who would willingly buy a Dodge? I just wanted a good running truck. If I wanted a good looking truck, I would buy a Toyota or anything besides a dodge. Everything that breaks on the truck is Dodge, not Cummins. Everything that id mopar is junk on these trucks. . Ball joints, axels, sheet metal, interior, paint or lack of, fit and finish. Once Dodge quits putting the CTD in their trucks, they may as well go back to building Dodge Darts and Roadrunners and quit building trucks.

Origionally bought the truck for the cummins. My previous truck was an F350 with a 6. 9 diesel 300k miles but I like this truck very much.

For the Cummins and the turning radius. It was close though and I will be giving the Ford a good look next time around in a few years.

MOPAR MOPAR MOPAR. You pretty much love them or hate them. . To most folks MOPAR is the "red headed stepchild" of the big 3... . but to those of us who love them... that love will never die.

I grew up in MOPARs... cudas, dusters, challengers, power wagons, minivans :-laf :p ... we've had them all.

MY first dodge was a '98 dodge dakota... I know some folks don;t consider jeep MOPAR but I do and have had 5 of them myself as well.

I bought my 3500 because it was a dodge... and the cummins was just the icing on the cake as I would have bought the dodge regardless of the engine.

I purchased the Dodge because of the Cummins but got a very nice truck along with it. I have owned Chevy, GMC, Ford, and Dodge pick ups. I have driven the most miles in the Dodge's. My future x-wife owns a used car lot so I get to have and see many different vehicles. I have seen that the Dodge seems to take the abuse a bit better than the others. I am still partial to GM but my future trucks will most likely be Dodge.

I bought it for both the Dodge and the Cummins. At my dad's job, they had a mid-80s W350 SRW regular cab that was damn near indestructible. It was still in use in 2001, outlasting Ford and GM trucks that had been purchased after it. That truck could jump curbs at more than a crawl with no apparent damage. This was coupled with the anecdotes that the Mexican-built Dodge D/Ws were assembled like tanks (which was probably easy to accomplish considering how few they actually made).

Most of my life, I lived down the block from a private garbage collector. The family ran Macks exclusively, and so I was just a few doors down from "REAL" diesels growing up. As a kid, I read all the truck and fleet magazines my grandfather (Newark NJ public works supervisor) brought over, and I learned that the "REAL" diesels were Detroit, Cat, Cummins, and Mack.

After a pair of Ford F-series that should've handled light duty work but didn't (90 and 93 F150 SuperCab 4x4s), I decided to step up and get the truck I had been led to believe was built like a tank and had the REAL diesel of those available.

Feb 17 1996, I ordered a 3500 Club DRW 4x4 with a 12-valve. It was built April 22 in Lago Alberto MX, arrived at the dealer May 20, and I took delivery May 24. I put 126,934 miles on it, and was never disappointed. Hey, it's a truck, and it had an occasional problem, but usually something I caused or should have addressed sooner than I did.

So it's no surprise that on Jan 15 2005, I ordered a 35800 Quad DRW 4x4 with the 610. It was built Feb 2, arrived at the same dealer March 4, and I took delivery March 8.

Further proof that the 96 was as good as I thought? My dealer took the 96 in trade, and despite the mileage and age, they didn't wholesale it to an auction... it's right out front at the dealership, reconditioned and detailed... for sale.
