Has anyone tried the injectors from www.dieseldynamics.com ?
Their dyno shows huge results compared to the Bosch 275 hp injectors. I wander how much they cost. I think it was HVAC that was going to try the True Torque III injectors good for an advertised 100 hp. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey MichaelT,
I'm waiting on the same thing! Very anxious to hear something good, the claims on their web site sound great. Come on HVAC, what's up?

I'm curious to hear the reports on mileage effect. With the Bosch 275 getting the unanimous report fo 1-2 mpg mileage improvement it's gonna take something similar to sell me another vendors. But 100hp has me looking.

Mike,
I installed the stage one injectors a few weeks ago. The truck runs much better now. There is more power and it is much more responsive. The rpm climbs quicker. The mpg appears to be better(1mpg+). A by-product of the blue printed injectors is the smoothness of the engine and it is a little quieter.
I have one of the early 24 valve engines. It ran great until the ECM was reprogramed. It hasn't been anywhere close since. The injectors have brought back the performance. I am still looking for the MPG. I got 18 to 19 with the original ECM. 16 to 17 with TSB 18-11-99.
I can not bring myself to void my warrenty or I would order a TST upgrade. Instead I have ordered a cummins uprated ECM.

Ron, Whats the difference between stageI and stage III? Performance? Price? I did'nt see any mention of different stages of injectors on the web site. Any info would be appreciated.

jjdiesel,
As you read this HVAC is probably screaming across central Cal toward Long Beach with TruTorque III injection and the Blue Box turned ON. Smashing every PSD threat along the way. Showing no mercy. Big grin stuck on face, enraptured by power and speed.
Stay tuned for report from HVAC. Hopefully direct from Long Beach, but I seriously doubt it.
Hopefully early next week, as soon as he recovers from Horsepower Intoxication. . .

I want a Cummins uprated ECM also. My main concern is , will this uprated ECM still have the dodge EPA fix , or any of the other messed up dodge fix'es already in it? Also will this uprated ECM fix the bad injector timing in the current fixed ECM ?

I too am waiting for HVAC's report. I currently have the 275 injectors but always looking for more. Did HVAC get the stage III injectors?
Thanks, Terry

JJ,
The stage one injectors are stock injectors that are enlarged and have flow rates within 1%. The reason I went with the stage one injectors instead of the RV injectors is the part number. Should my engine have a major failure I do not want to give Dodge an excuse to void my warrenty. I believe the stage two injectors are the RV injectors that have recieved the same treatment as the stage one injectors. I reccomend calling diesel dynamics. I talked to Lawrence, the owner, and he was plesant to talk to. Very helpful.
Bob,
I do not know the answers to your EPA question on the cummins ECM. I contacted the cummins powermaster and he gave me the part number for the ECM for my truck and gave me the the toqure curve which was matched against the original. There were a couple things that I found interesting. First the orginal toqure curve that cummins showed did not match the advertised Dodge curve. The one that Dodge advertizes reaches peak toqure and does not drop off until late in the RPM range. It is basicly flat after it reaches peak toqure. The cummins view of the original curve shows peak toqure somewhere between 2000 and 2100 RPM and then drops off 30 to 40 pounds. I tend to believe the cummins version. Before I installed the stage one injectors my power fell off right there. It acted like the timing was retarded at that point which it may be. With the new injectors it doesn't feel that way anymore.
The cummins ECM toqure curve peaks out around 2450 RPM and then falls off. Here in Wyoming I drive between 75 and 80 which puts me in the 2250 to 2350 RPM range. This is out of the peak performance of the Dodge ECM. The cummins ECM should be much better. I view this as my only option if I want to keep my warrenty.
My local cummins dealer had not sold an uprated ECM until they ordered one for me. The are going to run a few performance tests before and after. I will let you know what we find.

Hey all;
I talked to HVAC at Dieselfest yesterday. The results, were very impressive. I won't elaborate. I wouldn't want to spoil the fun for him. Dieselfest was a blast. Good food, good people, loads of trucks. Really great venders setup. The only complaint I have is that it didn't last longer.

I talked to my local cummins shop, they say the new ECM from them will be $900. I think that dodge is selling them for $1100. ??
I'll be watching performance changes closely, I want one if they work.

I'M BACK!!!! Did I scare you? Didn't mean to (yes I did!). I'll bet it's been a little quiet without the three Bombertiers present (Scott1, Evan, and ol' HVAC), we were at Dieselfest (another topic).

DTMTIDW, What does it mean?
It's Bomblandian (Bombish) for get out of my way slow poke, I've got Bombing to do! Actually it means DON'T TELL ME THESE INJECTORS DON'T WORK!! I'll start a new topic tomorrow 'cause my hands are all curled up from clutching (I need a new one!... clutch that is!) the steering wheel! But when I saw all you information starved Rammers here with the light on and awaitin' for ol' HVAC to return home, well I had to tip my hat (I got all teary eyed too).

Thanks Arlan for lettin' me have my fun! By the way where do you park that rig of yours? You must have a basketball court at home. That truck/camper combination must cause the railroad crossing lights to come on when you are near!! Seriously, that is one great lookin' setup you have, immaculate!

Vaughn, you know me well! I'm so excited I'm about to have a pump failure of my own!

I've got to organize my thoughts, and download some of my experience of the last few days, I've got so much horsepower now, my eyes are blurry! My mind is like one of those websites you can't exit, probably won't sleep tonight. I've driven all the way home with one hand and no eyes, I was filling a notepad with impressions, and reflections to share with you Rammers.

In a nutshell, it's all good! If I had a Diesel Dynamics flag, I'd raise it. I already removed the license plates on my truck and replaced them with Diesel Dynamics stickers.

I'll collect my thoughts and look forward to conversing with you Bombin' Ramsters in the AM, gotta go shut of "Second Childhood".

Thank you Dman & crew!!! Everything is now right in my horsepower world... . and it feels good.

Welcome home HVAC! Yip, intoxicated with Horsepower, just as I thought. Great to hear ya've got the HOT combo now! Next you're going to have do something about that exhaust--are you trying to sqeeze all that air out a weeny 3-incher? Can't remember if you upgraded or not.

My breath is baited, waiting for more details. . .

Well I never had more fun (I was petrified) than when we ran my truck on the dyno! That modified monster was stretching those straps and twisting those leaf springs violently, and there was Dman behind the wheel, grin on, torturing my truck like a young boy pulling the wings off a bug. Well I highly recommend this experience for you gearheads.

I also highly recommend Diesel Dynamics. They not only have a good product, but they serve it up with a smile. Different than some I've met!

You folks better get comfortable 'cause this post might run into tomorrow!

I rolled in to LV, found Dman's shop and we did a quick tour. The new dyno was in the pit but the metal frame and cover was not on yet (covering the pit), I told him I'd skip Dieselfest if necessary. We went into his lab area and I got my first glimpse of the Extrude Hone machine that treats the injector tips, very impressive. He uses a template which holds the tips in place, it goes into the EH machine, and gets clamped into place. Then another ram pushes "media" (like clay) up from below and through the tips till the proper volume of "media" has passed through the tips for the desired effect. Different amounts will create different performance characterisitcs. Dr. Horsepower(Dman) then removes the tips from the machine to then be flow checked with diesel. Once the injectors are properly matched at the desired flow rates they are checked for proper pop off pressure. Now it's time to install them.

The cover went on the pit that afternoon and Dman rolled his 1-ton in for the first test. This dyno has an unusual design which will allow different load configurations for different applications. I dynoed with a simulated 13,000 lb load (like pulling a trailer). First we established stock performance hp and torque levels and then ran the truck with the Blue Box on. This was very impressive. Then we installed the new injectors while it sat on the dyno with the straps still in place.

Well now for the best part. Dman primed the fuel system several times with the lift pump and then started it. It did run rough as it purged the air out, then it smoothed out. Had a different tome to it which I liked.
Once he warmed up the engine a bit, he threw it into gear and the show was on. He ran several preliminary run ups and then pinned it. We had a 70 horse gain with the box off and a 155 lbs improvement in torque, excellent!

Now for even more fireworks, I was a little stunned at this point. Dman looked at me and put his finger on the switch for the box.....
gulp, I swallowed hard and nodded my head. I didn't know weather to cheer or run for it!
I can only think of one comparison to what happened next, an F18 Hornet doing a full afterburner vertical climb! You not only hear the engine roar and smell the diesel fumes, you can FEEL the energy passing through you! 100% unadulterated turbo charged adrenaline!! When my heart started again and Dman brought the truck to a stop, I checked with him to see what we had.
450 Horsepower 920 Lbs. Torque

I'll give some impressions on another post as this is getting long.

Awesome HVAC!!
I talked to Dman this morning. He was laughing as he recalled 'That guy with the heating & cooling business. ' So... you did go with the stageIII? How about the module set-up for boost? Waiting to hear more!

And where did your egt end up? Knowing that you still have the stock exhaust (sans the muffler), I bet you got damn close to 1300F!

Careful there HVAC! One wouldn't want to destroy the creature you just unleashed!

Craig

Yeah, we installed a boost module to let the ecm think boost is in spec. Hehehe, is 40 lbs. in spec? It is if your HVAC!!

Sent you a chart CCollar. I was hiding in the corner when Dman was pistol whipping my poor Red Ram, so I couldn't see the guages. In between runs I would ask Dman what the egt went to and he would laugh and say "I was having to much fun and didn't even look at the temps". He had both feet and one hand on the throttle pedal, squeezing every last pony out of the Cummins!

I have hit 1000 post turbo prior to installing the injectors, I have to lay low now as the clutch is shot. The injectors don't have much effect on egt and that is one of the greatest benefits. Coming home(box off) I never noticed any appreciation in temps.

Yes, I have the stage III kit in my truck now. It includes the injectors, the boost module and a new elbow for the wastegate feed line. The elbow has a small hole in it to bleed the line to the wastegate down a bit. This will delay the opening point.

And who said it could'nt be done with the 24 valve. I love the 12 valvers too. I am kinda glad I did buy a 24v. I have the PowerMax1, now I will start saving for Stage III injectors and a new clutch. lol
