Randy, thank you for your interest in DD.
Lawrence doesn't charge much for the installation. He likes to dyno your truck first to guage the results after. I suggest you not consider the Stage I, go for the Stage II minimum although I strongly recommend the Stage III, it's just too good to pass up! You do need to make an appointment though, Lawrence has a lot of people calling from all points of the compass, requesting installations on numerous vehicles.

A local to me Rammer GT is heading down to get his injectors installed the week after xmas. I would love to be able to assist in this horsepower trasfusion. Can you get to LV Randy?

Reply to Arlan.
It would be great to meet you at DD, I'm not sure when I'll be back though. I want to install a 4" exhaust and dyno my truck again. I'd then like to dyno on the Silver State dyno to benchmark the differences.

I don't believe you would need the boost module Arlan, my experience is with the Blue Box and it communicates directly with the pump. I have to believe the PM will bypass the oem electronics too. I think JD mentioned this.

Can you believe what Scott1 is talking about!

HVAC, Yes I can come to Las Vegas, It5would be better for me to have the injectors installed and see the results. Does Lawrence charge you for the Dyno test or is that part of the package?

Thanks MikeR!
I'm pretty stoked too!
Give credit to Cummins engine. Thanks to Lawrence @ DD, and Blue Chip Diesel too.
I plan to visit a couple local TDR chapters in CA, sorta a roving horsepower ambassador. CCollar said someone at Cummins West was interested in the performance capabiltiy of the Blue Box, I'm hoping to make a contact there soon. I wonder if Lawrence has my 4" exhaust in yet, I'm startin' to feel sluggish!

BOMB away!

I am back home safe and sound... with THE injectors. I had a set of the 275 HP injectors installed with Lawrences' 'magic'.
We dyno'd before and after. I do know that my dyno readings before where not accurate. [slippage in the dual roller application, changes in tire shape, minimal resistance etc etc] I had a dyno figure of 375 HP with 802 Torque but with Lawrences' dyno I had 290 HP and 630 Torque and no SPIKE! [I think thats the numbers... the dyno sheets are still in the truck and I will not make it there tonite zzzzzzz] I now have 345 HP and 749 Torque. Lawrence seems to think that I get a few more ponies from my air induction system [which I will have pix and prices on ASAP] and possible faster spool up. I found something of great interest that my air induction does. Evan and I where comparing EGT's on our trucks. His stock truck and mine somewhat BOMBed. His EGTS where consistently 150F higher all the time and 200F higher on hard grades. This confirms my observations prior to hooking up with him... I could not get the usual 1100F on the hills on hard throttle. I never broke 900F! Believe me I tried. I can get 1200F [pre turbo where it should be... just like in air planes] under full throttle from 80 mph and up with the 'flowed' injectors... but I do not need full throttle so I never exceeded the 900F again on 6% grades. My acceleration is quicker thanks to the injectors. I will be the distributor in the Great White North. My truck is faster, stronger and I am getting approximately 1. 5-2 mpg better then on the trip down and thats at 80-85 and getting 18 mpg! I sure like the logic of this dyno approach... when you have seen other dynos and this one... then I can say for certain that it has a lot of merit for a diesel application. I am glad I have an open mind to other approaches to refining these engines. I cannot discredit something if I haven't tried it or seen it... after seeing this and experiencing it... I am glad I researched it.

I will hook up a trailer loaded down to get some more numbers after Christmas.
P. S. to the contrary of what has been posted... our clutches will take a bit more then they are rated for... however, if I get on it real hard fast... it will slip... I even did that stock.

Sorry for the multiple posts, I have an intermittent glitch somewhere I can't seem to isolate (took me 1/2 hour just to delete the extras). Sometimes the #$%^@ thing works, sometimes not.

I do believe this topic has become the "most posted to" topic yet! Of course, Rob's "triple post" shouldn't count, but I think we should overlook this.

Keep the posts coming...

Its great to read some of of the ol time threads, but its also sad to see so many members not postings from the early days :(

what a ride its been :D

Bob - what a great post... . I just read the entier thing and found one great quote from Nowel (HVAC) and it is posted below.

We installed the stage III kit which includes Dman's boost module and a modified brass elbow for the wastegate line. I have left the box off since my clutch is weak. Actually I don't plan to use the box in the future except to do burnouts!

That just kills me when I read it... .

This Ones A Classic

This topic may be my favorite of all time:cool:

A quick explaination for those who have not seen this before. I went to Kellogg Id for the festival there earlier in "99. I mainly was going there to talk to Dr. Performance about injectors. Well that didn't work out and I left extremely saddened and angry as a result of my experience with Barry Sadler (Dr. P). I felt strongly there was a world of performance to be had with this injector technology that had just slipped through my fingers. It was a long ride home to California:(

Once I got back I started a few topics about "MONSTER INJECTORS". That's when I learned of a business preparing to open in Vegas called Diesel Dynamics. The rest is documented in this topic.

All I had on my truck was the Blue Box and once the injectors were in the clutch began to slip!!! I couldn't have been happier:D

Here is another one of those classics for all time, what a trip down memory lane. . .

Sure doesn't seem like Nowel has been gone that long either. Man, how fast time flies... ... ... ... ... . Still remember hearing the news like it was yesterday.

RIP Diesel Dynamics.

Fred Swanson installed DDII's,an Edge EZ and a DTT transmission in two days @ Desert Diesel Parts. Talk about a transformation! Years later,my mileage dropped severely and the DDII's were sent back to DD for analysis. Keith Locklier called and said two were operating below standard and sent me six rebuilt, balanced DDII's all within one week! Great service from a great company.
