That doesn't explain why this is the first time since I've owned my truck that diesel is cheaper than gasoline.
When I bought my 98 12v new in 98 it was the same price and when I traveled out of Florida it was some times cheaper. In my opinion the EPA does more harm than good. I have never seen a Government agency that operated efficiently and I go back a long way. The refusal to allow new refineries to be built has resulted in the expansion of existing refineries at a greater cost. Refusing to allow drilling in ANWR has complicated the problem. Add some DO DO head politicians into the problem and it will never get fixed. In 1966 the price of Diesel or Gas was 19. 9 per gal. and the the oil companies were making money. Certainly some of it is inflation and taking us off the Gold Standard (by another DO DO head, Pres. Nixon) lowered the value of our dollar also. In the 70s we were at 50 cents a Gallon and then the phony shortage bumped it up to 75 and then later to a dollar give or take. Simply put we have been had.

I support your right to bear arms, but not on any plane I board! If you miss, the whole plane can come crashing down.

That's actually exaggerated Hollywood theatrics. Minor perforation of the aircraft external skin will not normally cause a sudden disintegration of the airframe or catastrophic decompression. There was even a wide-body jet that lost major portions of it's top section and still managed to land in Hawaii. The pressurization system of commercial passenger aircraft can easily handle the pressure requirements from many pistol bullet holes in the skin. Even a "lucky strike" to a vital component probably won't bring down the plane, as modern aircraft have redundant and maybe even separated backups. Stuff we learned in Vietnam. :D

When I bought my first Diesel, Diesel fuel was $0. 45 less than Gasolene!

That was about the difference in 95 when I purchased my first diesel and that was one reason why I bought a diesel. Based on the difference in fuel cost and the additional cost of the diesel engine over the cost of the V10 engine, I calculated that it would take 60,000 miles for the Cummins to pay for itself. In actuality it took 68K miles for the Cummins to pay for itself. I don't know if that fussy math will work anymore.

IIRC, historicaly diesel was typicly cheaper than gas.

Yesterday: $2. 80 for diesel and $3. 50 for unleaded.

diesel had been running close to super but gas has been shooting up, super's . 40-. 50 higher then diesel now, been driving my 16. 5 mpg truck instead of my 23. 5 mpg bmw they cost the same to drive now, i am use to 70 odd bucks to fill the truck but 40 odd bucks to fill the car sucks

I hope people/voters will realize that it is the same people that want to cut off funding for our Troops that won't allow new refineries or drilling in ANWR (which would actually benefit the Moose). They are wrong in their ideas that they are forcing the industry to produce more efficient vehicles. It is not working, it is not happening. There is a little improvement but not enough to keep up with what the Illegal Immigrants are using. It is the same people causing the problem that don't want border control. The bums could be voted out but sadly people/voters will only know how to complain, believe their lies and vote them back in.

And what exactly will the Moose spend all their oil money on? Maybe when the Mooses are called to Washington, they will swear them in to "tell the truth and nothing but the truth".

Explain to me why gas in Washington State is cheaper in Spokane than Seattle, and that Bellingham is 10 cents a gallon more that Seattle. The simple answer is price fixing! I grew up in the Fuel distribution business, and believe me the oil companys have been fixing prices for years.

The joke in Anacortes, home of two refineries, is that gas cost more there, because the paper work has to go all the way to Seattle and back. It is cheaper 10 miles away in Mount Vernon/Burlington. Bellingham is held high to take advantage of the Canadians across the border.

The oil comanys are not just a small part of the problem!

Next time around, lets not put Texans in charge of Washington, DC.

In the 70's a Mr X testified against the oil companys on price fixing. I happen to know that Mr. X was a lawyer for Shell Oil in Seattle.

2. 66 vs 2. 99 (or was that 2. 89) on the sign at loves this morning, gas is expensive around here lately

Diesel has finally dropped below reg here in MT. I "think" Uncle wants to spur the sale of diesel cars to get to the 20% reduction in comsumption? Doc

Man, I got ripped off then. Last week I payed $3. 24 up in Pennsylvania, while Premium was sittin at just over $3. #@$%!

Did you buy it in a small town, or a large truckstop off the interstate? Small towns away from the interstate tend to be 10-50 cents higher. The PA toll road service areas aren't usually to bad, vs other places.

The best thing we can all do is cut our fuel consumption down by 25%. If everyone could do that, it would hurt the refineries, fuel distribution and fueling stations. :)

We have plenty of oil. The gov't just doesn't want it drilled in our backyard. Dang tree huggers. #@$%! We need more refining capacity. Haven't had any new ones since before I was born. Some refineries were shut down making changes for new reformulations again. Some of the distributors have been out of gas in IA for over 2-3 weeks. They are trucking it from IL back to IA.

The futures market, where gas and diesel are traded, determines the price.

Oil is a traded commodity also. Can't forget that. Day traders can make the price swing, too.

yea i've been driving the truck instead of my bmw trying to avoid the nasty gas price as diesel is so "cheep" at the moment the truck is almost cheeper to drive

I don't think diesel is cheap, it's just that gasoline is more expensive at the moment.

You all have me to thank for the fuel pricing! When I traded my V-10 in on my Cummins a week later gas was cheaper than diesel. Now I bought a V-10 and a 360 gasser a few weeks ago and diesel got cheaper. How frickin ironic is that?
