Alright I think I got myself a little confused here.

#1 Diesel is winter Diesel right? Which would make #2 summer blend. Does one or the other have less lubricity? What other variable lie between the two other than winter blend having less BTU's?

Correct, #1 in winter (make that hard winter). #1 has less lubricity. With a 24V, I would use an additive, with a 12V I may or may not worry about it.

#1 is only available where it's REALLY cold. They sell "winterized #2" in many parts of the country where #1 would be overkill. Go to the link given if you want more in depth discussion.

In Colorado what would I be getting right now. I always buy fuel at a Shell Station in Del Camino, CO which is right off I-25. The guy in the station had no clue what I was talking about when I asked what the blend was. This station is a major truck stop and moves alot fuel, would it be #1 or #2 Winter blend?

I don't think you'll find straight #1 at a taxed pump in the lower 48. It will be a blend of mostly #2 with something (usually #1) to keep it's pour point down.
