Fellow Rammers:

What are all the differences between 2500 and 3500 4X4s? Ok, besides the obvious training wheels on the 3500. But what about :

front/rear axles

front/rear springs

drive shafts

brakes

frame

sway bars

Just thinking: Ford/Chevy have single rear wheel 1-ton trucks. What about making a single rear wheel 1-ton Dodge???

Differences

Looking at the 2001 Ram spec. book...

The 4x4 2500's and 3500's have exactly the same;

front axle and springs

rear axle and springs (2500, diesel, stick)

front and rear disc brakes

sway bars

drive shafts

bed bolt downs

The only difference between the two is the training wheels on the 3500, standard HD transfer case on the 3500, and a taller frame section on the 3500.

Also, the GVW is higher. From my experience a GVW of over 10K will draw a lot more attention, when pulling a trailer, from the DOT than a truck under 10 K. I travel in GA and the make the locals jump through a lot more hoops when they drive a dually 1 ton they do if the drive a single wheel 3500 or 2500. My insuranse I just got from State Farm rated the vehicles based on less than or more than 10K!

Guys:

Thanks for the responses. I had looked at 2500s and 3500s side-by-side and could not see any differences.

It's gonna be interesting to see what DC does in 2003 with 3500s and hopefully a 4500.

Take care, Wiredawg.

Heigths

I have a 01 quad short auto. My Friend just purchasest a 02 quad long 5 spd. My question is, his sits about 1 to 1 1/2" taller then mine and looks like if a load was put on would ride better then mine. Whats up with that?

Wait for the 2k3's:rolleyes:. :D

What I would like to know is that with the camper package why don't i get a gvwr upgrade. In fact it lowers what I can carry just by adding weight to the vehicle.
