Uggh... ... . just seperated my rotors from my hub and noticed a potential problem. My new rotors (EGR) are 1 3/16" thick compared to 1 1/2" thick for the original ones. The new brake pads the same thickness roughly. The new calipers are the same Bendix model.

I realize that the piston will make up the difference but is that okay?? The piston will start out being extended further throughout the life of the pads. What gives.....

What do you think? Did other people that did the front conversion notice this difference?? Is it something to worry about? Should I care?

rotor thickness

I have no doubt that the calipers will take up the slack.

Not to steal this thread but who has changed to a different brake system and why. My fronts seem quite good. I would like better rear brakes.

Back about twenty years ago, Ford had double calipers on the front of 3/4 and one tons. Is there a system that uses more friction contact and more piston size for our trucks.

Thanks 19kgvw for bringing this thread up.

Update to everyone..... just talked to Glen at EGR. . He sent the wrong rotors to me. The rotors that he sent are for agasser 93, not the Cummins!! Jeezz..... He is mailing the right part this AM! Glad I didn't install them.....

As for other brake systems available for our trucks... (multiple pistons etc), I haven't spent much time looking. Just know that TSM and EGR have the same basic equipment.
