This is something I don't like, either. This may be one of those questions for ask the builders... or whatever.
I would LOVE to see a 3500 offered with a 6 speed manual, 4:10 rear axle, and a two speed axle at that. Some of us old farts know how to drive a stick, and can split shift a 2 speed rear axle. This would have me at the dealer, ready to deal.
I hope you're not going to get rid of that RARE truck you have!
I was on the fence for a long time about whether to buy a 2010 3500 crew cab dually or a 2009 4500... I chose the 4500. Towing is up to 25,400lbs on 2010, but I wanted the bigger brakes, the longer bed (11'4''), the Aisen and the 19. 5s. I have 4. 44s that put driving 70 about 2,100 RPM. Overhead is showing 13. 7mpg this tank, but it has been . 1 to . 3 MPG off to the high side. The 2010 4500 will have more polution equip than the 2previous years.
Anyway, can't wait to see a new 2010 3500 in person.

The wife and I went to look at a 2010 Heavy Duty today; she has given me the green light to get a new truck. I have been waiting and researching the 2010 for a year and was excited to finally get to see one in person and take it for a test drive. They had a black crew cab 4X4 sitting in the lot so I parked my 3500 next to it so I could get a comparison perspective. After parking I stood back and took a look at the two trucks, my heart sunk, my first thought was “I can’t believe it I actually like the look of my 2006 better than the 2010. As a matter of fact the 2010 struck me as weird looking; the hood looked like a head that was too big for its body. Although the interior is a bit more refined it did not blow me away. I know it has some other nice features but I couldn’t get over the looks, I left the lot without taking it for a drive. Frankly I am sad that it didn’t meet my expectations, I guess I will just add a few up-grades to my 2006 and keep on driving it; to date it has been an outstanding truck.
Dieselnut 59,
The 2010 2500/3500 meet the 2010, but the 2010 4500/5500 will have urea (sp) injection required. I love standards too, but from time to time, it's cool driving my wife's auto and especially the Aisen. I like the Aisen better than the standard because it has two overdrives. My 02 3500 5600 is sweet, but would be better w/ 3. 54s than w/ the 4. 10s. Never changed it though
I would have preferred a 2010 4500 with the integrated brake controller and the prewired aux switches. But, I'm happy w/ my 09 so no biggie.

I test drove a 3500 SRW crew cab long box... I was quite impressed... perhaps it is not too hard to impress coming from a 98 12v... but anyway, I would seriously consider one, but the dealer closest to me has 4k of dealer markup on top of MSRP... damn spendy truck. I like the fact they are finally offering a proper crew cab, great room in the rear... drop the price 10k below MSRP, and I am ready![]()
