High Miles
I thought about contacting Cummins about the miles, but I believe the old 12 valves are of better quality than the newer ones, I don't know this for sure but I do know the new ones are more expensive to maintain. That being the case the old ones would not be a showpiece for sale promotions. I bought the 96 when it was one year old with 8,000 miles on it. the transmission had already been replaced under warranty but the replacement was giving me trouble, so back to the dealer for another replacement. This lasted about 245,000 miles and started to fail and replaced with a standard rebuild which went out after about 3 months. Finally got a D T T which lasted another 300,000. went Canada to have D T T rebuild it again, this lasted about385,000 and by this time D T T would not rebuild it again. I started pulling
R V's in 1997 and added piloting in 1999 so doing both worked out fine as it eliminated most of the deadhead miles. there are a lot more tales to tell about this incredible truck and the story about the motor outlasing the truck
is mostly true. Stormy
