What brand Oil and Filter do you use?

Adding Ball Valve to Bypass Oil Filtration System?

hmm... wasn't watching it at all, but during a WOT run last week, I think I saw about 1200-1250? it's running pretty cool right now...



obviously, if I lug it, the heat will come up pretty good, but w/ some air in it, it seems to be cooling very well. I'm sure that'll change when the sticks go in ;)
 
FWIW, I never got it over 1300* w/ the DDP4's and the twins, but I still only have a 3k GSK in it (4k baby springs are in the truck, they're just not in the PUMP yet!) :(



also, I GOTTA imagine drive pressure w/ this setup is WAY lower than w/ my old setup!!!!!!
 
You know I'm a believer in the II Super Series turbo's as far as cooling and efficiency and what not goes, but there are still people that don't believe me or have a hard time excepting that my set up is more efficiant and runs damn near as cool as "some twins run"... I can turn the TST on 3/2 and Smarty on 8 and under WOT I've never seen over 1250. To each his own, but I'm not a rich guy that can fork out 4500 to 5 grand for something that I can spend less than half of that on and get damn near the same results... :-laf

yeah, I think I spoke with you about them in the past... or at the very least read some of your posts about them in my searches.



I figured people were exaggerating their responses and claims about their turbos... and when I first got the truck together, it felt so different and I was just wanting to get home, I didn't really do any testing. I was very pleasantly surprised at the numbers I saw today!



I'm amazed that a single with a turbine side that will support so much power can spool like this!



it might get interesting w/ a better breathing intercooler on there! :D
 
I look at it like this when people roll their eyes to me, it's their money. I just get so damned mad, because they ask me and then blow me off. If your not going to listen and just blow me off, don't waste my time! Go spend a extra 2,300... Me, I'd reather get a MP8 and better clutch and fuel system with that money... FYI, for those in the market for a turbo right now, get in on that group buy that is offered on here for II turbo's. You can't hardly get a BD super B for what the SPS 62 is going for... When I heard the price yesturday I was :--) DAMN!

I would be currious to see the difference in aftercooled air temp between one of these turbos and a good set of twins.



oh say on a 60F day at 90 MPH and 50 psi of boost (stock CAC of course)
 
I haven't seen a map for these 62-64-66 compressors, but I've got to imagine the temps from the twins will be lower as you're operating in the sweet spot of both compressors so the air gets heated much less...



I'm planning on an aftermarket intercooler to help egt's and throttle/boost response even more :)

Most people won't belive it till you show them, I figured when I dropped the B/B off my setup it would be a huge difference. Boy was I wrong... ... love the single.

update w/ the DDP4's installed: 55psi of boost w/ 50psi drive pressure in 6th gear. highest EGT's I've seen so far is 1400* a whopping 100* increase over the twins :D to be fair, I'm sure the ported head is helping that.



wish you lived closer Jim so I could try that 66 out! :-laf

Probably safe to say the head was worth a honest 200* Sounds like you almost have it figured out Forrest :D
 
man, I have NO idea what was up with the governor springs in my pump, but I put in a 4k kit from Rip, and MY GOD... this thing is fueling like crazy even BELOW 3000!!! before in 5th, I would get 50psi boost and 55psi drive pressure... if I hit it at 2300ish, boost would hit 50psi like instantly and drive pressure would bury the 60psi gauge... the engine has a whole different song to it, and the only word I can describe this thing is "violent"



I played with the gate a little and now it's doing 47-48psi boost and 50psi drive pressure, EGT's were 1500* and climbing.



gotta call II and see what it'll cost to upgrade to a silver bullet 66 :(

I bet this would be pretty slick w/ some water/meth, but now that I've got some more RPM to play with, I'm thinkin' I can live w/ a little more turbo... and the way it's hitting the turbo now, I bet a SB66 would probably hit like my current turbo was w/ the old GSK in the pump... totally livable!! :cool:
 
that is exactly why i am going to twins and ditching my sps66, after i had my pumped tuned my egts are out of sight and i can forget about towing. to each his own.
 
i am glad to hear it, that is what i am loooking for. to be able to use all the power and fuel that i have safely.
 
all of you guys that are ditching your SPS62/4/6's... How easily can they bolt up to a 3rd gen if they aren't a already for a 3rd gen? and how much? PM me. .
