When I had my 93 W250 CC, I ran it straight piped a few years, thing installed basically 3" dia bullet with baffles from one of the local Hispanic muffler shops in San Antonio. Had a nice tone.

I had a 4" shorty fte resonator right off the downpipe on my '92 with a he351 swap. was one of the best sounding exhaust I ever owned.

I ran a 30 inch Magnaflo on my 3rd gen, I'm running a 4 inch cherry bomb straight-through on this 1st gen just so it has a muffler for inspection...

I have a 4" straight through muffler on mine... When I picked up the truck it had a brand new 4" exhaust installed, but the muffler was still boxed up, sitting in the baked of the truck. My wife requested that I install it, so I did... no regrets.

On the first gen trucks I would leave the stock muffler there until it failed or clogged up. After that straight pipe . I never thought the muffler made enough difference to justify the cost ! The trucks run a bit better as well. The Democrats however have a different opinion. They would want a couple of cats a muffler as restrictive as a clogged kitchen sink. But what have they ever done right ? Oh well ... Good luck

Do yall run a muffler? What type or brand do you run?[/QUOTE

Yea, the old round huge bus muffler died ten years ago. Took it out,put a pipe in. It sounds good, but it is kinda loud. Its funny, once you get rid of the belt noise, aka goodyear gator and align the alternator pulley and a new tensioner that went away. NEw injerctors and ther knocks and crappy idle went away. Now I hear injection pump making lots of noise. Need to change all the springs and gaskets and check tolerances on wear items. I rode professional motocross for thirty years, so if i can rebuld a shock and set of upside down a kit showa forks this is easy! lol But im learning alot.! I love it. All my customers told me, you cant do that we dont reapairturbos, we dont touch injectors or pumps. Well ive done all of that, its not rocket science. I need an injector popper for fifty bucks? lol

Agreed...but the hard part is typically it takes specialized or proprietary tooling to work on specific components. And buying those tools can be more money than having someone just do it. And based on the cost to do certain jobs, its like they know that too.

I ran a MBRP muffler on my '05, with all else staying stock, including the cat. The OEM muffler was the size of a grease drum. The MBRP gave it just a little bark, but very mild, and not annoying when towing.

My First Gen has had four of various types and sizes, and with 4.10:1's it's above 2000 rpm on any highway, so yeah, it has a muffler. On the basis of sound my preference was the Banks piece but I don't know if they actually build it or made to their spec.

I have to be honest guys I never figured out the injection pump. I bought another one off a running truck and had to change the shaft I got it to idle and that was it, no power. So Im taking that and my 370 pods to my new best friend at the injection shop in fresno and he is going to show me what I did wrong! I have become very profecient at setting up pump timing and all that. Shoot I can install injector lines in like 11 minutes, ive done it so many, many times!
lol sucks
