I finally answered all thier question with "Grampa Edition"

While camping the last weekend I had 4 different guys tell me I had a nice older Dodge.
Then I got all the same questions.

Why have you not lifted it?
What --You have no tuner!
You really need bigger tires!
You really need a SUB for the Radio!
What's wrong with the front? - It's too low.
Why is that on the front of your truck?
What is this square thing up front here?

I drive a 2004 4 door 8ft box 2500 with no cool and trendy Mods.
orginal wheels / tire size / no lift / no leveling / no tunner /
no monster stereo / factory air box.

I do have a 2" hitch on the front and a Class 5 hitch in the back.
I did do a BD Valve body in the transmission to help the clutchs.

The truck does everything I need it to do.

My favorite commect is -- What happen when you get into some rough stuff
while you are out in the mountains.

Grampa parks the truck and pushes out the 4wheeler -- that's why Grampa bought it.

Is it at least 4WD??

.

If I might be so bold,

what forward camera, rear handle camera and stereo unit are you using or did you install? I'm looking to do the same in my truck.

I know what you mean.
I've got a 2007.5. Totally stock except rear airbags and a "lower weight" stock tune.
If the paint didn't peel off so bad it would still be a nice looking 2wd "Pa-Pa" truck.

Longest life at lowest cost with highest reliability and greatest work ability = 2WD QC/LB Cummins TurboDiesel. Why I specified one this way (and NV5600).

Is also best on-road performance given IFS + Rack & Pinion. Can thread the needle pulling the 35’ travel trailer. And get feedback thru the wheel the 4WD doesn’t have until it’s too late (incipient road dynamic problems).

Diesel Corvette after getting out of the OTR tractor (which themselves are far beyond what they were 30-years ago). No effort in maintaining lane-center or in reading the road surface. Long days are low-fatigue by comparison to 4WD.

Early HPCR is a keeper. IMO, best pickup ever came from Detroit.

Yup, love the way it tows my 5er.

Only thing I would have changed was the 68rfe. I wanted a stick but found this one with all the bells and whistles for what I would have paid for a base model.
Bought the 07.5 in January of 08 with $15k off the sticker and I haven't looked back.

Damn nice truck. Even for a tow queen.

I think my truck is also part of the "grandpa edition" but I'm ok with that. I'm not a grandpa yet as my daughter is only 14 years old. I have worked on keeping my pickup reliable and usable for all things.
I have upgraded to Carli ball joints and Carli track bar. The truck has Centramatic balancers and steering box stabalizer. For reliability reasons the truck was "tuned" to run stock power (tired of replacing turbo's). I have kept the truck quiet by keeping the original catalyst down pipe, a large truck muffler and the original factor muffler and tailpipe. There is no drone. My wife and I can have good conversation going down the highway. I added the Mopar filtration system. It has a mud flap behind each tire. The truck has a reverse level for easier loading into the bed. The front seats have the Geno's Garage foam upgrade - it's like sitting on a brand new seat! It is on my list to upgrade the radio some time with a good backup camera.
The truck hauls a camper, horse trailer, utility trailers, dump trailer, firewood and general runs for stuff. It is our "go to" vehicle for road trips.
The truck still gets compliments from folks who notice that I try to keep up the maintenance.

If you do a search on my name, you will find the thread about my new head unit. One of the apps in the unit is a usb camera input and the app has a shock setting. Now I don't use that app because before I did the stereo upgrade I already had a simple but good Forward Looking camera installed. I have done some other electrical mods to the truck just for my liking. Rear flood light and such. Please go back to the other tread and Will be happy to help with any questions
