i don't think there's anything wrong with a mercedes engine but my preference is cummins & if dodge decided to begin installing mercedes engines instead of cummins i'd prefer going where cummins goes. i bought the truck for the engine. before messing around with a new engine maybe they ought to get the rest of their house in order & deal with the mediocre trannys, thin paint, bad balljoints & a few of the other "quirks" that are annoying. why mess with a good thing but then again look at ford's big F/U with the "new & improved" powerstroke. the powerstroke is crap, the duramax is crap. if the mfg's want to make things interesting they should begin developing lighter weight medium duty diesels suitable for use in a pickup with cat & detroit. ideally it would be nice to go into a gmc, dodge, chevy or ford dealer & be able to pick a cummins, cat or detroit backed by an allison, spicer or some other truck transmission just like buying a big truck.
