My dad bought a new 300 last night and the sales manager told him that the cummins will be replaced with a Mercedes product in 07 or 08. Any truth to this?

The only thing a sales manager knows is how many cars they have sold this month. . I have found that just reading through TDR a few minutes each night will make you infinitely wiser then ANYONE at the dealership. I have friends that work at the dealership here and they call me to ask questions.

He must have bought from the same dealer as a fellow I met last week. He had a new 06 Ram CTD. Said he waited for that model to come out because the dealer told him it had the new Mercedes automatic.

I let him keep his pride. :-laf

Yes but Ford ownes Mercedes

When I bought my 05 Ram the salesman said that it had an Allison transmission in it. Lots of sales guys out there know less than my girlfriend about our trucks.

Oh come on guys everyone knows that the new dodge will have a hybrid intercumminsdetroit diesel, owned by mercedes which works under contract for cat, using yanmar parts licensed through gm, produced by volvo, and sold under the mack name by tohatsu dealers everywhere.

Now try saying that 3 times fast!

It's a shame that virtually no Dodge salesman knows the product their selling. When in the market for a new truck I will usually ask if it is ok if I ask the salesman a few tech questions.

Question number one (which will get everyone of them).

_ Explain to me the difference between a semi floating axel, and a full floating axel.

If unable to answer I won't talk to them until I am ready to order.

Mac

I don't know where they get that from!! The guy I bought my truck from told me it was a 5 speed built by Allison. I had to explain what 4-8-R-E means. He asks me when he has tough questions now. :-laf

A dealer that I ordered and then canceled an '01 from back in '01 had a few gems to share. He was telling me about the 245hp at 2700rpm. So I asked him "What's the redline", thinking that it couldn't be too much higher than 2700, which I knew, just not an exact #. His reply, after checking with another salesguy that was walking past... 6100RPM!!!!!!!

That's when I realized that a less-than-newbie like myself knew more than the dealers. I no longer talk features with them, just price.
