electronic device (computer) that will let user make a map for boost

every turbo car (or truck?) at the drag strip is using one (all the fast ones anyways)

simply put you can set the boost for launch and 'ramp' it in at any rate you want and have control over how much boost ea gear see's

high power drag cars wont hook if you throw everything you have at them in low gear

or second or third gear for that matter...

(some boost contollers also have additional outputs) (can control more than just a waste gate)

Hey, maybe bad spark plugs and wires are why I am getting such lousy MPGs. :-laf

Don, you are talking computer/ electronic gibberish for us mechanically minded folks. If I dont want as much boost in 2nd or 3rd gear, I simply dont give it as much pedal. :D

using your foot would do the same thing

but in a 7 second ride stuff happens too quick to do that consistently

that is why they have controllers...

with one you can make very small changes and see what it does on a time slip

there are also data loggers (another puter) that records many different factors - tire slip, clutch slip, temps, boost, rpm, egt, 0x, what ever you want to hook a sensor up to. after a pass you can look at that data (and you can even lay one run on top of another) and use that data to make changes to things such as a boost controller or the clutch or maybe even tire pressure

there is more to drag racing than you could imagine

I believe they came out with the propane injection kit that superchips is currently marketing. I also believe that MSD,EDGE,and Superchips are all owned by the same parent company.

I just replaced the carb in the old gasser crew with a new Edlebrock. It came with a sticker "Edlebrock carburetors".

I asked my son if he thought anyone would 'get it' if I put the sticker on my 1st gen truck.

He just shook his head and let me know that I am hopeless. :-laf
