Big Mike told me that his engine fan cycles. When his truk gets to a temp of 190 his fan comes on and immediately cools down his truck. I have never heard mine cycle. Just wondered - going in Thursday for the last bit of warranty and need to know if the fan is bad. thanks.

My fan has never come on while running with no load on the truck. Even in 100 plus ambient temp weather, the engine never gets hot enough for the fan to engage. However, when towing heavy loads in the hills or mountains, the temp guage hits 190, the fan engages and the temp guage starts falling. You will know when the fan kicks in by the sound.

Out here the fan will "roar" and cool down the radiator when needed. You might test yours by pulling a load up a hill in hot weather, if it gets that hot im Maine!

Mine comes on and goes off as needed even without a load.

While on my trip to Ca. and back that fan would roar while pulling the 5er at 70 mph+
near 90+ temps. The Ram ran perfect all the time.

While on my Vacation trip I had the pleasure of hearing my fan cycle as designed.

The radiator was full of bugs and the screen to protect the radiator was also.

The outside air was real hot ~100 and the fan seemed to cycle around 190

"Roar" is a relative term... based on what I've experienced with my last truck, I expected ROAR... but what I heard was roar.

When mine came on for the first time, it like to have scared me to death. I had probably put 6,000 miles on when I heard if for the first time. I was ready to take it to the nearest dealer to see what was happening to my new truck!

tlippy, isn't it hot there?

Mine roars all the time driving around town the last few days. Might have something to do with it being over 100F #ad
.

Today in stop and go it basically goes like this, with AC on (current weather is 106F, heat index 110): Stop at light & wait, light turns green and fan roars loudly for about 1-2 blocks and starts to quiet down about the time I hit the next light. Repeat cycle. Fan roars after every stop. Engine temp runs at 190 and 1 needle width above it, normally runs 1 needle width under 190. I suspect everything is normal with mine, just kinda hot #ad
. You guys in the Southwest must really be feeling the heat if it's like this up north.
