Hey all,
The driver side door on my truck has to be slammed hard to fully latch. If I just shut it normal, it will catch and stay closed, but not be fully flush with the body. I don't think this is the door pin. I can open the door and pick up on it, and the whole truck will move, but there is no play in the hinge pin that I can detect, and the door does not seem to sag when opened.
The passenger side can be shut like you would a brand new car, and it operates smooth and quiet. The driver side seems... "clunky" I suppose is the word. Sounds like you'd expect a 30 year old truck to sound. Is there any way to adjust the door latch mechanism or the striker on the door jamb, or do I need to get new parts? Jimsautoparts.com has NOS door latch assemblies available, but they are rather expensive.
