2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Drain Plugs

Ours is a '97 2500 diesel with the back seat. I have been fighting the issue of water on the passenger side floor for a long time. Spent lots of money at the dealer fixing the AC condensation line, cleaning cowl vents, etc. Still getting water on the floor when it rains. I cannot find any water stains coming from above that area. I have caulked around the third brake light. Done lots of research on this forum.

There is a hole at the bottom of the passenger door about the size of a quarter. When you put your finger in there, you can feel moisture. The position of that hole corresponds to the area on the floorboard where the water is the greatest. I would think that that hole is meant to drain the inside of the door when moisture gets between the window glass and the seal; however, I was wondering if that hole should have a plug?

Any other suggestions to stop the water would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No plug there. If sealing the third brake light didn't stop the leak I suggest you check out the rear window, especially if it is a slider.

I had the occasion to be under the truck today with a door open. My apologies, there are plugs. Two holes in the bottom of each door, the rear ones are plugged. They are oblong. There are also drain holes in the bottom rear corners, no plugs there.

Thanks for the input. As a follow up, I think I may have sort of isolated the water source. We had a good rain the other day, so I got in the truck during the rain and watched a trail of water on the front edge of the plastic trim by the passenger side of the right kick panel. Tracing it up I think the water flows behind the plastic trim on the right windshield brace. That tells me the water is getting in somewhere around the windshield. My plan is to remove the weatherstripping all around the windshield (a new weatherstripping is on order from Geno's), clean out all the dirt in the track around the windshield glass and then install the new seal with plenty of Permatex Super Weatherstrip Adhesive. Does that sound like a good plan or am I missing something?

No that's not a plan to me, a glued in windshield doesn't start to leak just like that.
Either it leaks from the beginning or it is tight.So it is very unlikely to have a leak there.

Disassemble all the covers on the inside that are accessible and look closer where that water comes from.
Water can travel a long way inside the vehicle and show up on places where you'd never have expected it.
You have to pinpoint it down before you start messing around with glues and sealant and other stuff.

And if it is really the windshield, consider to have it professionally reinstalled, that isn't crazy expensive and can be done in your driveway.

I had the winshield replaced on my 04 several years ago and immediately after it had the same type leak as yours. I removed the cowl part around the wipers and there was a piece of what seemed like aluminum backed tape covering an access hole. During the windshield replace they rolled this tape some, I put the tape back in place and siliconed around the tape edges. No more leaks since, might be something to look into.
