So with what you are saying is, you can't top off either?

I have only done it once, if you try to force too much fuel in the tank it drops fuel out on the ground from behind the bed side panel. Normally I fill until nozzle clicks off, wait a second or two and fill again. It clicks off very quickly the second time. Once more/third time and I hang up the nozzle. Try more and you have fuel running on the ground.

I could get an extra 6 gallons in the C&C once it triggered, it took awhile but I got it done, when I was in Arizona or Nevada. Every little bit of room I could spare was filled to the brim. That would help the next time I had to refuel in Comifornia. My move to Nevada killed me when I had to refuel in SoCal to make the return trip, at 60+ cents more a gallon. I was towing or heavy on the trips back to Vegas, so I had to refuel, but I didn't top off, thats for sure.

This is the curent cap I am using on my 2019 2500, I bought at Geno's Garage.

At least they are the same diameter. Geno's claimed to have the new one in the works and was going to start pre orders. I'll wain to see what it is, the 2" ABS cap is working for me, for now.

I think what you had was fuel coming out of the vent line from topping off the tank...I've had that happen and can easily see the vent on the inside of the dually fender...the vent line runs from the top of the tank to the back side of the filler neck. I don't think you are correct in saying there is a vent or drain between the two flappers on the neck it self.

see above comment...I don't think that is correct. about a drain between the two flappers?
My f150 has a drain between the 2 flapper, I took 2 screwdrivers and depressed the buttons on each side and opened the first flap, went to pour in some MM OIL and it ran out on ground, pushed on in and opened 2nd flap and MM Oil went into tank,Monte

And there you have it......thanks for the backup, mfurrh55. Similar design between the FCA and FoMoCo filler necks.

That’s why you have that small funnel (attached to your jack, under the front passenger seat) for depressing both flappers....

It’s used for adding additives and/or adding fuel from a container in the event one runs out of fuel.

I love the smell of Stanadyne in the morning.

On Edit:
This was not intended to start an additive war. It was a failed attempt at humor regarding the stinking funnel being stored under the seat with the jack.

yes, I have another one like that I have used to add PowerService Diesel Kleen...I knew it was to depress the second flap down....but I didn't think there was or haven't seen any drain holes between the two flappers.

I have yet to find a PS product I liked that didn’t have alcohol in it. Alcohol has ZERO business in ANY modern diesel fuel system. PS will NEVER be an any of my diesels. Period.

My experience is there is 2 flap. Top off too much and it will go on the ground. That being said, it seems the setup allows a pretty much complete fill without much foaming and sitting trying to get the last few gallons in a trickle at a time.

You should do some more research sir. I don't want to hijack this thread and start another "best oil" thread, so I'll leave it that.;)
Found this from PS themselves:

The only product manufactured by Power Service that contains alcohol is our Diesel 9-1-1 -- For Diesel Fuel Emergencies. This product reliquefies gelled fuel, de-ices frozen fuel filters, and removes water.

Apparently their other additives used to contain alcohol but not any longer.
