Finally finished most of the drill jig kits. I'm going to scatter six of the kits among the TDR members who wish to drill their own. The cost to use the jig is $00. oo plus the cost to ship it to the next member who wishes to use it. I think most members can handle that. I could not get anyone to volunteer to keep track of these and coordinate the shipping to the next members so I guess it will have to work itself out.
Auto Wurks Diesel in NJ and Blue Chip Diesel Performance in NH have purchased kits to provide this service to their customers and to others who are too "chicken" to do their own. #ad

Have you already chosen the members they are going to first? If not, I'll get the ball rolling. Maybe we could make it a NW BOMBers get-together and do them all at once.

Bob

Thanks a million! We will be providing the service as soon as the kit arrives. We have been waiting and brainstorming for something like this for many years. Thanks to CPFF for daring to leap outside the circle and come up with this ingenious idea!

If you get time, can you write a thread on how to use it? Or are the directions going to be with it?

If everything works out, there will be one in West Pa, who needs it next?
Maybe we can do several at Muncie, June 9th.

HEMI - My wife typed a couple of pages of "HOW I DID IT" instructions and I have some pictures also. I would like to post them on here so guys would see in advance what they will be doing and how simple it really is,but I haven't got a clue when it comes to these computers.

CPFF,

I sent you an email with an example of the code you use to post an image in the forum. Email me if you need more help, we all would like to see this information posted.

Does anyone know if Cummins has a TSB on this? Does this only happen to specific year engines? I'm guessing that Dodge won't do anything about this unless it finally wears through the cover. I'm still covered under the warranty, but no problems yet.
With this problem, and the fifth gear nut problem, I feel like I'm driving a time bomb.

Could you let us know who has the jigs? I would like to use one ... I have three possibly four people here interested in doing this. I will definitely be doing mine!

RA Dreher - Right or wrong, I chose to send the first ones to the guys who contacted me and were willing to buy one. I thought they would be most likely to use them quickly and pass them on.
I had time to make ten units--one to keep for myself, 3 to sell to commercial outfits, and the other six I would pass out to TDR members who wished to do their own motors. I would not charge for these six, but would appreciate a small donation for their use to help defray the cost (materials and shipping) if they wish.

Rammin On - I am not going to post the names of the people who have the jigs. If they wish to, they may. When they have finished using it, they can determine what method to use to distribute to the next in line.

drawson - No, they are not all out. I am waiting (only until tomorrow evening) for a couple of them to e-mail me their addresses.
They all will be out of here by next Tuesday--one way or another.

Someone mentioned that a 4. 5" hole saw circulated among the members a while back. If the method they used to do that was successful, maybe someone can post how it was handled and we could do the same thing with the drill jigs. CPFF

The way we moved the holesaw was real easy. We just started a thread of who wanted it, and you mailed it to the next person on the thread. The addresses were handled in email. The shipping was paid by who ever just used it. By the time the saw was to me, it had 9 diffrent shippping labels on it. We were all cheep and used the same box. We left our names in it to show where it had been.

CPFF,

That sounds like the right choice to me.

I was contacted by the member in our area that has the jig now, and it will be making it's way to us in the near future. I have talked to five local members that are interested. Passing the hat will certainly be in order. I appreciate the time and research you put into this, and for donating the jigs for all the members benefit.

Thanks.

Bob

This works for me. How can I get on the list?
Someone let me know if a jig makes it to Central, Oregon. I like the idea of the Dowel Pin party and maybe getting serveral done in a day.

hi CPFF how do i go about getting on the list to get use of one of your jigs . Im very impressed with the pictures that make it understandable . Too bad you cant get Cummins to pitch in a sizeable bonus for helping them with there design problem... Arnie bpcrsarne@softcom.net

CPFF,

Would you happen to have any drawings and dimensions of the jig so us machinist types could make one up ourselves?

Thanks,
Tom Sjodin

T. Sjodin No,I did not have time to make prints. I wrote a quick program for the CNC with just the bare minimum amount of info.
When I get back,I may be able to make some prints.

DOWEL PIN JIG

I would be interested in getting a jig here in NC to do a couple of trucks when one becomes availiable.
